Caravan to Motorhome (1 Viewer)

Hello everyone,

My husband and I have just put a deposit down on a Burstner Nexxo 690 Motorhome. Our first one! After 10 years of caravanning we’ve decided to try a Motorhome.

We regularly tour in France and wondered if any of you are able to offer some advice about essentials we should have in the van.

We are looking into a television set up, not sure if we should try streaming or aerial options? Also which tv Is best?

Any recommendations or advice gratefully received.

We moved from a caravan and never looked back, you will love it.

Get a Karcher vac for the windows, means you can move off in seconds and actually see through the screen when it mists up.

For TV I would say aerial for UK and streaming for catch up and over the water, Sat dishes seem to be falling out of favour.

We use a fire stick both in the UK and in France (as long as we can get a wifi signal!).

Hi we have an Avtex TV and sound bar and really happy with the quality also use a firestick for Prime/Netflix etc..

Agree with funflair.. works for us. If storage permits consider an external tv aerial on pole for UK meaning one less hole in the roof. We use transponder tv when abroad for a decent selection of UK tv channels viewed on a laptop. Will also stream tv in UK with unlimited data sim

We have a built in aerial for the UK. When abroad we watch films or boxed sets that we take with us on a memory stick.

Hi we have an Avtex TV bit pricey but works well with the integral Freeview and freesat tuner also got an built in DVD player

Caravans and m/h are pretty much the same from the towbar / cab bulkhead backwards!

It's the front that will be different so swap snaking for fiat / ford reliability

Cannot help on the TV

But you will have so many more options for parking if you like off-campsite. Get all the Apps - park4night, searchforsites, campercontact, campercarinfos. Most have an on-line free version or a subscrition to download for off-line.

They will cover campsites, Aires and wildcamping spots, so a lot you would have never contemplated in a caravan. It is a different and wider world, especially in France.

Just imagine parking on an aire, or just a CP, at edge of a French village/small town, popping out to boulangerie for a baguette and croissant, going for a walk around and then to a bistro in the evening. Much easier than booking campsites, maybe out of town.
