Which of us jinxed it for the other, longer time members? :(

I was thinking of joining on January
Might still do so, I was a member a couple of years ago and found the sites were mostly good and in some places I wanted to go.

We left last year as it was getting to pricey, but stayed with CCC and went for the digital membership at £40 a year.

Had a nosey on the CMC website and they don't tell you how much it is going to go up by and you will be pleased to know that just 6 of their 160 club site will not have a price increase to their site prices this year.

Don't the prices increase most years anyway??

One thing with the camc is at least the sites are consistently good - you know what to expect.

I think they have got pricey over the few years but being solo at least they charge per person, not like most commercial sites.

isn't that a miss print surely it should read thank you for your continued stupidity.

I think their hoping that the current problems will mean people are happy to be ripped of after all they have to get back all the money they wasted trying to give themselves(y) a posher name

glad I left both so called clubs years ago never been tempted to go back

Me too, I don't remember them warning me 2 weeks ago when I signed up that prices would be rising  Maybe they had a very successful show and thought nows the chance to bolster the coffers, seems to be a lot of people buying new motorhomes from what I saw, or should I say paying deposits, all engrossed sitting with salesmen, nice to see the country is coming out the doldrums but just hope that pitches don't become harder to find as more people after them, not that I have done much in the UK yet but intend to hence joining(y)

No surprise their prices go up... their expenses & outgoings go up... it's called inflation.

Luckily in the UK, we have something called "choice"... if you don't like one product, for whatever reason, there is often a very similar one. With Motorhoming we have a huge choice.

Even though it's the more expensive of the two clubs, it's been worth it for me because of their sites location and price - my last three trips I've paid between £12 to £16 per night... prices comparable to facility free CL/CS's and half the price of some commercial independent sites.

Can I ask why please?
Just not using it, been with them for a few years and not used them once as we mainly use CLs anyway when we were using them. It just seemed to coincide with the price increase which was ironic.

I have been a member for many years and have always been very happy with the sites, amenities and never yet stumbled across the officious warden so often reported.

I recently stayed at Burrs Country Park site for two nights, so I could visit the East Lancs Railway, it seems I was very lucky to get in. I booked on line the Thursday night for Saturday and Sunday. Talking to others and the wardens they had been booked solid for that weekend for months and I was very fortunate booking online and been able to drop into a cancellation before it had even been advised to the site. I paid, I think £33 for the two nights.

A few days later I stayed at a privately operated small site and that was £14 per night without electricity, much smaller pitches though clean and well ordered. No complaints with them either but the Caravan and Motorhome Club represented excellent value for money to me.

I should point out that I am one of those dreadful free loading types like Lenny HB but it is nice to stay over periodically to deal with the waste and the washing.

I am ducking to avoid incoming!

I use the CL’s haven’t been a member for years but they never ask to show the cards, one did and I said I haven’t got one.... she still let me on..?

Joined in June well pleased with service and services.

Useful info for those who are thinking of joining ... :)

... but isn't this the club that you inadvertently joined as your 'research' was incorrect?

Been members for 4 years now, only used 3 sites in all that time, last one was Cheddar recently and cost us £27.20(no discount offered for non electric pitch) recent research showed Pembrey Country Park Wales was £29.40 per night.
No over 60 discount offered either, so I think they may need to rethink their charging structure to make it as, or more, competitive than The CCC.

I know their Shower blocks are of a very high standard , however we dont need those either as we have our own facilities, but still have to pay regardless, so maybe a token system where you pay for what you need to use like the indie sites do, along with metered electric for those that do abuse it:swear2: warming their awnings in winter to get their monies worth (how short sighted & selfish is that when we all end up paying more)

We have booked our Swansong visit to Baltic Wharf CMC Bristol over Xmas (yea I know we were lucky to get a place) but we booked a year ago to get it. Dont think it will survive another year if Bristol Council do actually introduce a 7AM to 3PM Diesel vehicle ban, mad as that sounds.

We will maybe look at joining The CCC next year as they are better value & offer Temp summer sites, as we will be ditching The CMC next Feb.

Difficult decision for those that wish to mainly tour the UK, but easy one for those that travel abroad using their Acsi cards & Aires as we will hopefully start doing next year, along with Fun Rallies of course(y):D

We tend to stay at CLS mostly but have been to a few Club Sites, take advantage of the 50 percent off midweek pitch fees where applicable we did this year and for a 4 night stay at some sites we were saving about £50.

Debs, the prices increase announced, are in addition to those increases already lined up for next year. They did the same thing last year, so effectively there have been 4 price increases in the past 2 years.
I agree with you about the good site standards and the individual adult charging being benificial for us solos. However, recently i am finding them not such good value for money as they once were. Looking at next years prices, it's going to get worse as a number of their sites are also dropping the midweek discount.

lol I've just left :) it was before the price increase to be honest

Yep, we left last month too. Our van is equipped to stay off-grid and having to pay £35/night for a piece of grass in a caravan park just didn't do it for me.

No regrets. The Royal British Legion got the membership money instead.

Not increasing if booked before Nov 12th so all the a holes that book every weekend up a year in advance will still get this years prices!

May I just point Out:- I have just checked a CC (Bridlington) site, without logging on as a Member:- £21-00p/n. Logged on as Member £14-20p/n. At that rate a 9 night use pays for annual Membership (with Change). Which is likely why so many still use them?.

I do primarily use their CL`s. However I find that at least the site facilities are of a consistent quality. Of late I make at least as much use of the CCC too.

BTW, a "Haven" site nearby to Brid; is currently charging over £30-00 per night!.

We have been members of both clubs on and off for 30 years.
We have used CLs , club sites, Temporary holiday sites extensively.
We have also attended probably hundreds of club meets on local levels taking part in alsorts of activities we wouldn't usually do and made so many friends and acquaintances.

I don't consider myself stupid. Thanks

When we first started we joined both clubs... As soon as we started travelling outside the UK we realised just how expensive motorhoming is 'at home'
It is cheaper to travel abroad than stay here.. and that includes diesel and chunnel costs !
