Captain Chair Noise

Hello

I have an annoying squeaky/whining noise from the mechanism under the driver's Captain Seat. When I rotate slightly when watching tele, eating or nattering with friends, it is dammed annoying. I have attacked the bits under the seat that I can get at with WD40 and silicone spray but it still persists. Is there a simple fix without dismantling the seat?

Try a PTFE spray.

I am quite willing to grin and bear it, but SWMBO and many friends go on about it.
I have PTFE spray but the question is where to apply. I have done several liberal applications and the noise persists.

Is it the chair complaining due to the weight it's carrying?

You may need to get some grease into it as it's probably load bearing, WD40 etc. May not be viscous enough, see if you can find some spray white grease.

Don't use white grease if there are any plastics involved.

Good pointer. It does vibrate when I hold the lever and turn.ntge noise changes slightly when I lift it up. I am investigating

I have rummaged around and got into several positions that would make me a Yoga grandmaster and found the locking lever mechanism. The retaining nut was lose so I nipped it up with a 13mm spanner and now the noise is a slight scrape. I shall resume the hunt once I come back from the chiropractor. Thanks all.

Try WD40 on them, if it doesn’t stop the click at least you will slide out of bed easily.
