Canterbury Park & Ride

But no park and ride buses running into town. However, there is a bus stop just near the P & R you can use but pay extra. Park and ride itself is 50p for the day at this stage.

Is it still 50p a day. That’s very good as we missed doing Canterbury on the way out to europe I think we should do it on the way back.

No, it’s back to normal rates and the buses are running again. It is £3.50 from midnight to midnight, so if you stay overnight it is £7.

And water and dumping is free. Also one has free use of the P+R buses into Canterbury for up to six people on both days that one has paid for.

When the new exit is built at the A2/A28 junction and the new Wincheap P+R has the MH facilities open they should be even better.

Is the Canterbury Aire specifically for MoHo or is it a car park for general use that allows MoHo’s?

I’m hoping to use it after taking a morning tunnel from Calais, having driven from Germany that am. So, arrive around 11am, eat and sleep, and leave at around 11pm for a traffic free journey to Northumberland over night.

Is that feasible using this Aire or is it busy / noisy?

It's both, a long stay car park and a seperate MH area with water and elsan, well its a grid in a concave tarmacced area. There is also a MH spill over area which is much quieter than the first.
There is a bus into town every 15 mins or so and its only around 50p,

The dedicated MH area and services are on the left after the barrier where you take a ticket(pay near the office, that validates ticket for exit). For the quieter overspill area drive ahead after the barrier for 50m and the quiet big area is to the right(signed).

Has the system changed? When we were there in March, you took a ticket at the barrier and paid at the barrier when leaving. You can also set up an account on line. The entry ticket is for use on the P&R buses, up to 6 people.

You pay as you leave at the barrier it automatically recognises you registration number

You take the ticket at the barrier, but it's best not to validate it (at the pay machine at the office), until you know you are ready to leave. The tickets are valid from midnight to midnight.

Cheers,

Jock. 🙂
