We wanted to stay here but I was a bit concerned about the size of the spaces, so I emailed them lastweek asking if we could use the overflow carpark which is next door, and if we could straddle several spaces, just got a reply.

Yes that would be fine.
We've been using the overflow for Motorhomes again this Summer and it's proved popular.
Please just be careful when you enter the site turning right to get to the overflow section.

Excellent place to stop with free bus into city

Going to try it on Sept 2nd for ferry on the 3rd. Previously used Hawthorn Farm or Caravan Club Site but heard good reports on here about it.

We live about 20 minutes drive away from Canterbury P&R and often go there if we've got nothing better to do; park up - bus into town - shop, meal, few drinkies then back to MH to chill.

Great overnight stop and wish more Councils would adopt a parking area for M homes.
Note: The fresh water tap has been re located further back so unless you can manoeuvre nearer you need a longer hose.
The toilet dump has heavy grid that requires lifting to ensure keeping the area clean and smell free ( well almost) alas not everyone lifts it and

7.30 I think but other buses stop close by that run later.

We used it last year , just after the train meet. Great place. Done some good shopping in Canterbury. And a good meal in a pub called the Cherry tree. Great price as well.

They won’t let you use the overflow at busy times like Christmas but when the main car park is full the lazy car drivers park in motor home spaces instead of walking the extra distance to the overflow

This happens in other Park n rides as well. Cambridge Trumpington this week, 5 M/H spaces 3 cars in them.
Should be fined/clamped, that would stop it.

Take photos, send them to the Chief Exec and parking manager of the council concerned and ask why they aren't enforcing the rules.

Having a break at the M5 Gloucester Services northbound on Friday we saw 2 cars taking up spaces in the Caravan / MH section which was very busy, and cars in 3 of the Coach spaces, very cheeky. The main car park wasn't full, it was just lazy chancers stopping as near as possible to the main building.

It was tempting to put notices on windscreens such as "YOUR CARAVAN APPEARS TO HAVE BEEN STOLEN"

(although they didn't even have towbars on their cars)

I wonder whether that is the case now as it is officially signed for use by MHs wheras before it was ad hoc.

Also, once one has entered the barrier where else can one go, if the MH section on the immediate left is full?

I've blocked people like that in in the past.
I've also shunted stuff out parked in caravan/trailer bays.

We stayed at Canterbury Park and Ride two nights ago. We were surprised to be charged £7 as we straddled two days because we were in overnight. Last time we only paid £3.50. Is this a new thing? Still happy though because we were in the overflow area and it was quiet and plenty of room.

The charge changed to a calendar day, from a 24 hour period, some time ago.

I’m there now (Sun 16th Sept). Sun is cracking the flags - a nice 23° earlier.

Only 9 vans in the left hand MH park and 5 in the ‘overflow’ MH park, including a bleeding great Concorde!

The title ‘Overflow’ does not do it justice. Overflow smacks of driving round the back of somewhere and into a yard. Nothing could be further from the troof here.

If they get there after 8.30pm then they can't get in. I've woken up to Brits outside on the hatched yellows.
