Is anyone else struggling to get hold of a green card? My insurance company Stavely Head are saying they can't issue me one?? Ive tried several times now as we are heading out on Monday.
They are saying we don't need one if we travel into Europe whilst we are still in the EU even if we come out and I'm still out there.
Any help is much appreciated.

Am with Comfort, insurance expires early January at which point we will be away. So I rang they said simple, cancel current policy and start a new policy and we will credit remaining money from old policy and send you a 12 m green card. Went as smooth as possible

You are lucky to get through to Staveley Head. I have been sitting on hold each time I have tried to get through.
Booked ferry for 18th January so just keep fingers crossed

My insurance told me a while ago that as far as they are concerned My cover certificate which has in 6 languages on the back of it stating im insured is the equivalent of a green card so I don't need one and seeing as their underwriters are Mapfre I believe them ;)

I've just called Staveley Head to ask for it in writing that they wont issue me a green card and now they are going to do their best to issue me a green card???
Wow, what a pain of a company, I'm guessing I still won't get one though.

My insurers, Devitts via CAMH, sent me one last week although I hadn't asked for one.
Were you renewing, or did they (Devitt) send you thr green card ramdomly. Also was there a charge for the GC

Thanks

False information, if we leave the EU without a deal your insurance will still be valid but other countries will only accept proof of insurance at sight of a Green Card.
So although you will be insured you can still get nicked for not having a green card.

I got a green card from Comfort for my motorhome and for my trailer off them .

They sent me one as well, I now have two as I asked the Caravan Club to sort me one out and they charged me £15, two weeks on and I received one fro Devitt for the full term of the policy with a note saying that it might come in handy. Needless to say I challenged the Caravan Club about the charge and they gave me the £15 back.

Why would you need a Green Card for Europe. In Boris wins and leaves end of Jan we go into 12 month transition. If Jeremy gets in, we extend again while he negotiates his deal and then referendum, at least another 9 months and that will be remain or..............remain!

I managed to obtain a green card for vehicle + trailer without problem and at no cost prior to the Brexit deadline in March. I would have thought that any respectable insurer (maybe difficult to find) would issue a Green Card on request.

And what about a 'hung parliament' which I believe many are hoping for.

... I don't think many are hoping for the type of 'hung' parliament you're referring to ...

I wouldn't trust a thing Stavely Head say

From Comfort's website (this was in relation to 31/10/19 exit).

While nothing will change up until October 31, it could be a very different story if you’re touring Europe in a motorhome that date. The trouble is, it’s difficult to speculate exactly what will change for anyone travelling to Europe after Brexit without actually knowing what will be included in any deal, or even what the outcomes of leaving with no deal at all will be.
The good news is that if a deal is agreed, the UK will enter a transition period, which means everything will remain the same for a set period and you’ll be able to travel as you do now.
Even if the UK leaves without a deal, there have been reassurances around flights and visas, to make travel as straightforward as possible. There will be changes though, so here is our breakdown of what we think could affect UK travellers to the EU after Brexit.

I'm with LV for car & van, they have a bit on their website where you apply, came through within a few days, no charge.

I wonder whether the French Gendarme have signed off on this

It probably will be a hung Parliament, in which case Jeremy will still continue with his manifesto promise and in order to get into number 10 will agree to a further referendum in Jockland for Independence and the removal of all nuclear weapons from Faselane as a minimum. Under no circumstances will Labour leave the E.U. without a deal meaning we continue to comply with current arrangement's for at least another year with the distinct possibility of remaining in the E.U. So enjoy your travels with the knowledge that Jeremy will not target the finances and freedom of you and your children for a little while yet. Safe travels.

I believe that Jeremy has already threatened our freedoms but I had better not say any more because I am unsure if Jim will give me three written warnings before sending me to the sin bin :(

SO my friend has a green card which actually looks the same as my cover certificate with all the different languages on my friend was emailed his and he then printed it, so what are the chance of me printing mine on green paper. there is one other problem I have 120 day cover multiple trip mate says green card is only valid for a month and very few for 90 days.
Where do you suggest I print 120 day on my self printed green card :ROFLMAO:
Keep it clean (y)

What does a 'green card' actually look like?

It's official Staveley Head have posted me a 90 day green card free of charge.

What does a 'green card' actually look like?

The ones that used to be produced to me when dealing with foreign vehicles in the UK were all of a pretty standardised format, although not all identical in size or layout.

They contained the name and address of the insurer, international and emergency contact details, the vehicle details and name and address of the vehicle owner, dates of validity of the cover and the countries in which it was valid, all in a form which was pretty obvious to anyone needing to obtain that information, whatever language they were able to read.

Obviously the vehicle and owner information could be cross-referenced against the registration document that the driver is also required to carry, to further confirm the validity.

Oh, and they were also green ::bigsmile:

Googling "Insurance Green Card" images suggests that they look much the same as I remember them.

Just spoke to safeguard insurance regarding obtaining a green card for our trip to Spain and Portugal in January , I asked if I needed one he said if we leave with no deal probably yes ,with a deal probably no but no one is sure . what a state to be in ? but I could have one free of charge anyway so that’s what I have done ,good service off safeguard though .
