welcome to the fun cardrb.....stick around, loads of RVers/5ers on here.

    ps....European RV = Motorhome.....American RV = RV.....american 5th wheel = 5er (usually) here in the UK.

I can never get my head round this, just what is the difference between a big caravan and a fifth wheeler ?

over here a big caravan is a travel trailer, has it's own hitch and attaches to the bumper of a truck/vehicle. 5th wheel attaches inside the box of a pickup, can not be towed by a car, must be a truck. The attachment sits inside the box of a pick up, like a tractor trailer truck attachment.

What I was asking, badly, is why buy a 5th wheel as opposed to a caravan. To me they are essentially the same thing.

Not that I want either ATM, I'm happy with a little MH.
