Hi all. Can you carry spare fuel, in proper containers, on EuroTunnel, please? If so, is there a limit to what you can carry? Thank you :)

Solution2
2.5.12 Fuel: The maximum permissible quantity of liquid fuel (petrol, diesel or biofuel) that can be carried in portable reserve fuel containers on board a passenger Shuttle per Vehicle, is as follows:

-Plastic containers: 3 x 10 litres

-Metal containers: 1 x 20 litres

The total maximum amount is 30 litres.

A combination of containers may be used so long as each container size does not exceed the maximum allowed for that type and the total does not exceed 30 litres.

---------------------------

Pretty clear and not worth the work id say unless your planning a really off grid drive somewhere and 30l or 180miles max extra makes the world...

Thank you so much :) Really appreciated :) We're actually travelling from France to the UK and just concerned about the fuel situation.

Grab some then (y) Id probably take 60litres if you can carry.. Its Diesel so not exactly highly flammable and worst case you give it to the French. Chances are slim to none anyone will care.

How much do you need? A Ducato tank full will last over 600 miles. That's a long way in this country.

Our trip is work and pleasure. We have a lot of miles to cover and want to make sure we can get home :)

I bought fuel today and it’s the first time since the idiots were let out that I didn’t see any queues at 3 different outlets.
So my guess is you have no need to worry or go to the extra expense of buying suitable containers

I already have the suitable containers :) Thanks for the info, though, but I don't want to get stuck in the UK :(

The usual is brakes setting fire to tyres that then catch the whole lorry on fire.It takes some doing to set fire to diesel.

A lot of the lorry fires are on the hard shoulder of motorway so not much breaking involved there.
The usual cause is feed pipework to injectors failing and spraying diesel over a hot exhaust manifold.

Unless you have a 60lt tank.
I've never really measured it but I reckon my standard Ducato tank will take me a further hundred miles when the empty light comes on. It usually says eighty six miles but there's more :Eeek:

The safety rules set out to reduce risk to other on the train may seem to be H&S gone mad but it 2/3 vehicles broke these rules and something happened you are risking the lives of the law abiding I would not not want my loved ones underground in a confined space with a mixture of excessive diesel, extra gas tanks and any other extra flammables that are deem OK to carry . There is plenty of fuel in the UK if you keep it topped up when you pass stations with fuel you will be fine

Diesel is not a flammable liquid as such unlike petrol
