Can I have Sky Q in my motorhome

I asked this question of RoadPro about my 40cm dome when I had Q a couple of years or more ago. Sadly they had no answer at the time but were working on a solution as Q uses a wideband LNB and both leads go to the box unlike the usual setup of one to the controller. I never pursued it what with a trip to Norway where Sky was a no no and then lockdown.

I seem to remember posting on this thread at the time.

Most of what makes Sky Q work is the broadband

If you have decent broad band in your Camper you can use your Sky on the go app

Or Netflix and Prime iPlayer etc

Eddie, I looked at this before going on a trip to the coast last week but got the impression I needed multi room, which I don't have, to watch on the Sky go app. As it was only four days I carried on with the old mini box which still works with no card, albeit only the FTA programmes. Did I miss something, and don't say Eastenders? :giggle:

I've not looked for ages but I am pretty sure that Sky Q is available to all Sky customers.

I suspect that Sky's days are numbered anyway, certainly being delivered via dustbin lids and signals from space :winky:

Interesting. This was a year ago but it seems you can watch live tv but not recordings without multiscreen. I shall have to have another go.

Ah that's why. You need the multiscreen subscription to have access to watching you recordings and a different device @StevenC19
All customers get the normal Sky Go where you can access live tv and download to the phone but accessing recordings is for Multiscreen customers, as the name states, multi screens.

Thanks

When I tried the Sky go from my phone to the TV I could get sound but no picture,
Apparently this is all you can get with Sky, unless someone knows a way.

I have SkyGO on my MacBook, which is connected to a larger monitor and speakers in our van.

Works great.

Sky state that you need a wired connection for Sky Q to work. Something tells me that in a motorhome......................you cannot and will not get it to work.
Basically...it will not work on wifi unless its connected to your own landline. A mobile will only give sky go as stated previously
Stream from wifi or dome or disc set up is the only way.Net flix or a tv stick (wifi streaming) will be the best of choices

I have no problem watching Sky on my laptop (ok, it's not a telly, but just as good).

I tether my laptop to my mobile phone, no wired connection at all.

Without multiroom, you can watch live TV via the Sky Go app. And get new downloads via & for the Sky Go app.
What you can't do is watch content stored on the main Sky Q box via the Sky Go app.

 What bit of the Sky Q system is said to need to be wired?
None of my Sky Q stuff needs (or needed) to be wired. (And my house used to be a lot like a Sky showroom  (I was a Sky employee))

For the oldest Sky Q installs there are scenarios where being wired sorted out issues. Like those customers with none-Sky broadband installs. Or thick walls that made wifi reception troublesome.

edit: Oh! You're saying Sky Q needs to be at the owners Post code address? i.e. the router has to be ADSL or fibre?
The "wired" comment isn't for internal connections?

Sky Go as a simple app addition to a Firestick isn’t here yet.
Sky’s Now TV is available. There’s some cross over of abilities. Maybe not what you need.

If your TV viewing need is I urgent, here there’s a procedure to side load Sky Go onto a Firestick.

It won’t work. I have tried all the so called fixed sky go for firestick non of them work even tried on a virgin firestick and still no go. When o do find one that works I’ll be the first here to tell you all. 😉👍😷🥃

My Van was fitted out with a Sky Q dish a few months before I bought it, it has sky Q branding on the dish itself
The decoder box was however not included.
In order to make the dish work I had to buy a Humax dual band receiver/recorder.
hope there's a clue or two in my story.
