Don’t own one yet
I’m on the look out for a converted camper van. 4 berth 20k budget.

Came across this;

Do you need it for four as it might be a 4 berth but I doubt it has 4 seatbelts, this would restrict your use.

Ah, good observation.

Yes need 4 seatbelts. 2 adults two children (6&3).

The search continues..

my only concern is the side facing seatbelts although it shows them they are not legal in the uk

Yes you definitely need seat belts then, if its a van conversion your after they have plety with front facing lounge in the back with seat belts so you should get something.

Thanks, must admit I’m not having much luck with my search. Anyone care to share some potentials?

Is it a panel van conversion you want if so you might struggle to get a proper 4 berth. We have a PVC and although it's a 3 berth we can easily fit 4 adults but tend to take the blow up awning or pop up tent if our daughter and boyfriend come.

Here is an example of the layout.

This is the same as ours and you can change the back beds from 2 singles or a very large double which would easily sleep 2 adults and 1 child or 2 children and 1 adult and then you can get a full single to fit in in the front.

Advertised as a 3 berth but I guarantee 2 adults and 2 kids will sleep in this no problem, you also have the adria twin with same layout but not sure if they do 3rd bed.

Bit of a high mileage so for illustration purpose only :)

Are we saying choice for a 4 berth PVC is pretty limited? eBay doesn’t seem to appreciate my 4 berth filter that’s for sure!

Leisuredrive convert mainly VW vans into campers.
eg, Vivante

You will find 4 berth but they are limited, you might need to go for one with a pop top and the kids can sleep up there. However I do think one with the layout i posted above would be suitable for at least 8 years given your kids ages.

What part of the country are you in as might be a dealer you could look at.

Double down stairs, upper double, full size C200 toilet in a box at the back of the van

Leisuredrive make them :-

They run a small scale continual production line.

Examples can be found on Autotrader, Gumtree, ebay etc
Double bed made up down stairs, upper double, rear kitchenette plus a proper toilet in a box.
They won some kind of European design award for these a few years ago.
I owned one for a short while. Can be used everyday as a runabout or for camping.

Thanks for your help. I’m obviously missing something here, these look like all other conversions. I’d like something in the crafter, boxer, relay range. Something not too dissimilar to the original post with 4 legal seatbelts.

If you look at the pics you can see it has at least 4 possibly 5 belts

I didn't notice that but I dont think its allowed to sit a child sideways or did i just make that up :)

Just looked and I can see the belts but I'd be interested to see the V5 to see how many registered seats.

I know it might seem like a minefield and you'll never find the correct van, just take your time ask questions on here and you might just save yourself wasting a load of cash.

JUst done a quick search on Ebay you have this campervan with 4 belts and berths

Or if it doesn't have to be a campervan style what about this, we had the 130 as our first van which is the same as this but slightly longer.

Great find.

I like that Sprinter!

Plenty of forward facing seatbelts and good sleeping arrangements!

Don't waste your money on it, it's not been done properly! I doubt its worth anything like they're asking anyway.

There are a few French bed PVCs about but they tend to be built on the Fiat/Citroen/Peugeot base rather than a Sprinter etc. These would have proper forward facing rear seats with belts and a table and it wouldn't be impossible to make a removable bed to mounted over the existing bed, as in the one you've asked us about. If not then you'd could have the dinette seat bed made up into a bed(s) and if needs be another made up in the front cab area by swivelling the 2 cab seats to face each other with a board/mattress over it; you can also get cab 'hammock' type beds too.

I hasten to say that any camper, even those with transverse rear beds, could be made to work but is it important that you ONLY buy one with 4 safe, usable and legally compliant seats with belts.

I'M with Mel on this one, I was just showing you it as an example of the layout I think you could get something far better than that for your money.

Yes it would appear most of the sprinters are geared up for motor sport conversions.

I’m finding relays, boxers etc are limited at the moment, perhaps the market will pick up in September/October.
