Probably part of an interior silver screen, designed to keep cold in / out or warmth in / out, as previously stated looks like it fits around the mirror, hence the cutout.

It fits across the top of your bonnet. the cut out is for your windscreen wipers then your screen covers go over it to keep it in place covers the vents at front of van so you dont get draughts coming through.

But don't you have two windscreen wipers and neither of them in the middle!?

Sound deadening insulation. Fits under the cab carpet over the transmission tunnel? Maybe!!

I take it you have not taken a look at yours then ?
Yep, that's why I made the comment. Neither are dead center and there is no cut out in the object for the drivers wiper!

Does it have any obvious fixings ?

Is the cutout dead centre ??

The one we had was only the width of the bonnet as it only needed to covering the vents in the bonnet and the cut out was slid up until the bottom of the cutout touched the centre wiper arm and the drivers wiper blade was placed on top of the cover to hold the top of the cover in place and ours had magnets in the lower corners to hold the bottom in place.

Is that a little clearer for you ?

Yep it's an extension to normal length silver screens to cover the vents. Stops draughts and stops most water from pouring into the scuttle and soaking the engine. A bugger to drive with them fitted though, so best only used when parked up

Yup just the one arm attached at the centre just below the windscreen and the other off to one side of the bonnet on our van.

After looking again I see the recess is off center and the cover stops short of the other spindle.
Now explain what stops the front blowing up in a head wind.

Thank you everybody for your help - been really helpful, I was puzzled as it has nothing on it to attach to anything. Cheers!

What size is it?
I assume this is the only piece you have of this stuff?

Ya know , it strikes me that this could be some kind of draught excluder that fits under the dash . I've never seen one as such , but i know they exist , though normally they have poppers fitted to hold the in place . My own van has the poppers but no excluder .
The cut out may fit around some part of maybe the heater , or some other part fitted under the dash . I would suggest the picture shows the cover as upside down , in that the angled cuts may fit the wheel arch shape

It`s the separate lower section of a "Silver Screens" windscreen cover. The "cut out" fits around the nearside wiper arm spindle, the rest of the cover goes over the outside vents at the bottom of the windscreen. It`s fitted first, then the "Silver Screens" cover keeps it in place when it it is fitted over the windscreen and front doors.
