Sounds very ,much like a threat ,I don't think that's allowed on this site , as for Hominidae I think we all came from Apes .bye.

Statement of fact hardly a threat

And yet some still drag their knuckles on the ground o_O

Never dispose of possible evidence - raises suspicions. Leave in book and write reasons for new one - that way it's simple to understand

Now then children ... @Tony50 and @Ducto ... behave yourselves ... we don't DO threats on here or try to belittle others personally ... I doubt that what was said, by either of those involved, was meant to be take as a threat or insult.

Pick your teddies up off the floor and put them back in your prams.

I'm beginning to get a soft spot for you, you're caring and sharing.
Anyway I don't start these things ;)

I must admit it started with me (was years ago) running a Garage giving a Service to our best ability, but I am perhaps too sensitive when all Garages are said to be not trusted.
Trust is wonderful to be able to experience in life I do trust people unless otherwise wish I had not.

Same here, our local independent garage who we've used for yonks ... probably 20 years now ... is no longer getting our business. They serviced our camper earlier this year before our 7 week trip abroad (we did it early to make sure everything was in good condition so we wouldn't have any issues) but forgot to reset the service indicator so we had it threatening to go into limp mode in Spain/France ... in the end we had to get it checked and reset by a Fiat garage in France so caused us a lot of aggro, something we shouldn't have had.

We had an issue a few years ago with another camper when they didn't put the oil filter on properly so it leaked and we had that to sort out. In both cases our local garage refunded us but we don't need the hassle or worry especially when the whole point of having the campers serviced early before we went away was to make sure we didn't!

So now we're looking at using another independent garage a few miles away for our camper and cars and will see how we get on with them, they recently did the MOT on our Familyscout and sorted out the rear brakes (which we thought needed new pads) etc and didn't charge the earth either.

We'd carry on using the independent garage that's looked after our VW camper for the past 15 years. Trouble is they can't accommodate a high roof like our Ducato.

We trust them but I still check.

They will continue to look after our VW Camper and we have the onerous task of finding somewhere where they won't overfill us with oil or just polish our rocker box or sit in our seats in oil covered overalls.

I had my recall appointment yesterday morning with Grays Fiat in Warwick. I was booked in for 8:30am and as usual for me I was 20 mins early. Their Technician met me, had the paper work ready and the job was complete and I’d had a coffee and was gone by 8:30.
He also checked the oil levels and asked how I was getting on with the van and did I have any questions about it.
Service like this matters and I will now go back to them for any servicing I need in the future with a van I purchased from a south coast dealership.

Hi, Did they charge you?

As it only took 10-15 minutes or less. What was the recall for?

Well the fiasco continues ... further to my post #110 above, we finally took the camper in to Fiat on Thursday last week for them to replace the scuttle and the 2 new panels - they brought out the 2 new panels to check they were the correct ones and also the scuttle too, all were fine and we specifically asked that whoever does the jobs checks the colour match of the panels before fitting otherwise we'd prefer them to just secure the existing panels.

We agreed to leave the camper with them for an extra day (ie to Friday afternoon) so they didn't have to rush the jobs, but we didn't get a call from them so hubby rang and was told they had removed the old scuttle and cleaned up the windscreen etc but still had to fit the new one (gawd knows what they'd been doing!), so we agreed to leave it with them and collect it Tuesday to give the new scuttle time to 'cure' once fitted.

So along we went yesterday morning and found that not only did the 2 new panels not match the originals due to them being a different shade of grey but that they had also scratched the new front passenger side panel that sits behind the wheel-arch and in the process also badly scuffed the other 3 panels round the wheel arch too ... it looks like some idiot has pushed something past the camper, or scrubbed it against something when moving it, either way it now needs all 4 of the front offside wheel arch panels replacing!

We got the workshop manager out and played merry hell with him about the panels not matching despite us asking them to check first before removing the originals (they could have simply fitted new clips to the existing ones!) and also the damage caused to our camper (I did check the rest of it carefully and there wasn't any other damage). After a lot of talking the parts manager was called out and has been tasked with trying to see if there are different shades of panels, if not they're gonna try to lighten the new one to make it blend in more or treat the existing ones to darken them ... of course this will only be a temporary 'fix' but better than nothing as they can't refit the original panels as they are scratched as they didn't take any care with them once they were removed! They also got one of the valeting chaps out and he had a go with his stuff but it didn't make much difference.

But .... that's not all ... hubby was checking the oil and water this morning and noticed that there was some dirt on the driver's side of the windscreen just above the scuttle and went to clean it but the edge of the new scuttle moved ... it's not flaming stuck! He lifted it and underneath is full of dirt so the adhesive hadn't stuck to the windscreen, there are other areas along the scuttle too like this, although not as bad, but it means that the whole thing will have to be replaced again. He was NOT a happy bunny and rang them about it, but they are insisting that they need to see it before they can sort out rectification so we're gonna have to visit them on Monday when we return from Norfolk show.

So taking the camper into Fiat has been a total and utter farce ... we're worse off than if they hadn't got their ruddy mitts on it ... fuming does NOT cover it!!! :swear2:

Needless to say that there will be strict instructions that whoever has been working on it previously doesn't go near it when it does go back in and once it's all sorted (hopefully!) there'll be a stonking complaint letter sent to the head office about it all!

Anyway, as I was saying, ahem , it is much better to make your own mistakes than rely on the ineptitude and expensive charges of alleged 'professionals' I say this with the confidence of one who has been ripped off, stolen from and fiddled by the best. Revenge came in my later age.

Genuinely sorry you have such appalling idiocy to contend for your time Minxy, back street cowboys are cheaper and do a reasonable job !
