Hi

Planning on going up to Norfolk from Bristol for a week leaving Saturday morning

Wonder if any of you fine people could recommend any sites that accept dogs but are also near a pub/village. We would also like to be able to go walking directly from the site. Looking for potentially one inland and one coastal.

Also looking for a stopover in or around Bedfordshire to break up the journey.

Thanks

Hi
Never been to Norfolk so not really too fussed people I have spoken to so far have mentioned Cromer and Holt and also Wroxham.

Anywhere really we can get out walking have a couple of pints and a nice meal. Ideally one in a rural location and one coastal would be perfect.

Thanks

Woodhill Park between the Runtons on the North Norfolk coast is simple, but has sea views and wonderful sunsets. Bus stop outside site takes you to Cromer one way about 3 miles and ultimately to Norwich. Other direction is Sheringham - nice little town with independent shops. Both have cinema/theatres. Plus Cromer has the end of the Pier theater.

For a coastal one could try Parkdean, Manor Park at Hunstanton, cheap enough, dog friendly, indoor pool bar etc, short walk to sea front, a Tesco and a Marstons pub and to pleasant small town .

If you use the A421 which skirts Bedford for your journey across to Norfolk, then a stopover at Marston Moreteyne might suit you.

We did a tour of Norfolk a couple of years back as it was somewhere we had overlooked for visiting in the past.

We stopped the first night at Wroxham at the boatyard on the river, which is a short walk to pubs and a good fish and chip shop. It was £10 a night when we stayed.

https://www.google.co.uk/maps/place...!8m2!3d52.704308!4d1.4073119?hl=en&authuser=0

Next we visited the RAF Air Defence Radar Museum at Horning, might sound a bit boring, but it was a very interesting . There is I think a CMC club site a few miles away that we stayed at that night.

https://www.radarmuseum.co.uk/

Next day we traveled out to the coast and had a nice cheap and cheerful lunch at the Kingfisher cafe at Walcott.

https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@52.8...WCKGi3zbA!2e0!7i13312!8i6656?hl=en&authuser=0

Moved onto Cromer were there are a few sites to overnight on and had a day looking around Cromer. The RNLI museum is worth a visit.

Booked a trip out seal watching for the next day at Blakeney Point. http://www.sealtrips.co.uk/

Continuing around, Wells next the Sea is worth a look around.

Did the Sandringham house visit which was a bit of a con as you seemed to be in the front door and out another in about half an hour thinking was that it !!

The museum at Kings Lynn was ok to kill a couple of hours.

Pretty much every year we enjoy an Autumn weekend at Wells next the sea. We stay at pinewoods,
Some say it’s too expensive, but you are straight out onto the beach with the dogs, we usually walk to The pub in Holkham via the beach for lunch the wobble back. The site has recently been improved and the facilities have a heated floor. Recommended.

Thanks everyone this is really helpful....

Just to give you an update we have decided to do a weekend break in St Neots CCC site instead of just a one night stop over. Never been to St Neots and it seems there could be a decent walk or two from the site and fairly close to the town.
We have also booked 2 nights might extend to 3 nights at Deepdale Backpackers and we will travel on from there.
All your suggestions have been really useful and we are looking at Incleboro and Wells next the Sea and Wroxham.

We will definitely be taking a trip to Rocky Bottoms Fish restaurant looks fantastic...

Thanks again and if any of you are heading down south maybe I can return the favour (y):)

Enjoy your trip to Norfolk ... Depending when you are travelling be aware that after a lot of rain the St Neots CCC can be flooded. Last time we were there the ducks were swimming up to our door.

Now returned from Norfolk had a great time.

As mentioned we stopped over in St Neots which was very wet I think we might have met the same family of ducks! However it’s a really nice site next to the river so we did a couple of walks and had a look around the town.
We then moved on to Deepdale Backpackers site and the sun came out and stayed out! If you like walking and beeches and you have a four legged friend then this is the place for you. We loved it here great facilities and really well run site! Ended up staying for four nights and can’t wait to return! Also really nice pub called the Jolly Sailors serving
good beer and great food.
Drove down to Wells next the sea and Holkham beach which was stunning and we walked along beach and back through the woods.
Unfortunately didn’t make Rocky Bottom Fish restaurant but we will be back!
Hope this is useful and many thanks for the input ??
See pics of Bailey the dog enjoying the beach?

We love Pinewoods at Wells-next to-the-sea, touring site is excellent! Plenty of walks straight from the site and a lovely one mile walk into Wells along the sea inlet (a little open train runs alongside if you want it). Dogs loved it!

Did you go this year ? The site has been moved further away from the beach and the old site developed for statics I believe.
I wondered if it is better or worse for the change.

The old/ original site was just a short walk 100 yards or so from the car park near the dunes. The relocation is quite a bit further and was carried out in the last couple of years.

We have stayed at West Runton near Cromer and Deepdale.
West Runton is good for walks to Cromer or Sheringham but is not in a village. Deepdale is in a well stocked village with nice shops a garage and supermarket. There are a couple of pubs within easy walking distance.
One of our favourite walks is along the coast path to Burnham Overy for lunch in the Hero. There were more dogs than people last time.
We will at Deepdale this weekend. There should have been an open air theatre until the restrictions we have now. They normally have events on all year.

We were at West Runton a couple of weeks ago, lovely site but difficult to find a decent pitch when it’s busy. We were lucky but the day after we arrived there was only a handful of very unlevel pitches left and new arrivals were struggling to get pitched.

Can recommend the Old Sun CS nr Bungay. Short walk to a pub (5 mins) dog friendly, just one toilet/shower/ washbasin but is used as en suite so much more pleasant to use. Fantastic Broome Heath to walk the dogs off lead. Coop short walk away. 30 min walk to Bungay and buses to Beccles or Norwich. Thorouhly recommend.

We have been lucky at West Runyon in the past but I agree some pitches seemed a bit uneven. The walk to Sherringham was a bit of surprise to management because I didn’t mention the hill before Sherringham. There are not meany hills in Norfolk but there is one either side of Sherringham on the coast path.
The only down side of Deepdale and West Runyon is the lack of shelter. We were at Deepdale during storm Dennis and got the full blast from three in the morning full on the back corner of the Rienza. West Runton must have been worse being on the cliff top.
