wondering how full the sites ( Villasol Raco etc) are at the moment we are looking to come down at the end of the month or begining of febuary.
Alan

Not a pitch to be had last feb...BUSBY.

We are booked on to VillaSol Benidorm starting next week, you can check out the web site and book in advance if you are staying for a few weeks.
From what I gather there are plenty of campsites available, it depends on where you want to be and what you want of a site
You can check out campsite locations on Google Earth

See you in Beni

My advise is get to town around lunchtime, that way you have time to visit a few sites.
Check availabliity, look around the sites and compare prices. Most are very close together.
You have back up with aires and sites at Albir and Alfez..

Real backup is an overnight at the roadside close to Villasol..

Raco is fairly full at the moment, the only pitches available are under trees and in the shade but you can move to a better pitch iff and when a better one becomes available.

Raco and Torreta both look very full at the moment. There are a few spaces available at Villasol and a few people are packing up ready to move on in the next day or so. We walked along the coast road from Altea to Albir a couple of days ago. The camper park, San Antonio, on the coast road was full. There were pitches available to the rear of the Cap Blanch site, but they are in the shade unfortunately.

No worries then, lots of us that over winter are heading north by the end of March and lots of good pitches available as the sun is getting that much higher.

If it's not a stupid question............ how come Brits head home in March? We're planning our first trip to Spain and Portugal setting off in March and I'm now wondering if it's a good idea. Is there something I should know?

Southern Spain starts to really warm up then. Unless you have acclimatised over the winter it is getting unbearably hot end of March.

just a few left on raco now but like was said they are shaded pitches but people are moving on and off everday

we have just left arena blanca, with one or two short term spots available
raco also has space but mostly shaded pitches, sister site torreta some space
villasol busy but villamar, bit further from town has spaces
safe journey

We are going down at the end of the March, leaving home on the 26th March. Hope to get in and settled before the Easter rush. I am thinking we will go to Raco so maybe I should book it in advance.

We were in a hotel in Benidorm in the Spanish quarter November and I thought while I was there I would pop and see Orange Grove with a view to staying there for three weeks next summer/ I e-mailed them asking how to catch a bus to go see them or how far it would be in a taxi and they didn't even have the courtesy to reply so we won't be bothering. (Kind of worrying to drive over a thousand miles to a site where they don't communicate :cautious:) so we were thinking of San Antonio Camping in Altea this summer. Anyone been there?

We walked past there a few days ago. It is not so much a campsite as an aire, small gravel pitches. The site itself was very clean and tidy as were the facilities. It was full at the time with lots of Norwegians there. We were told that the site closes for two months in the height of summer as it gets too hot.
