Hello, we are travelling towards Bezier tomorrow and looking for recommendations for good campsites that have places we can walk to, and are well reviewed. Any Funsters who know the area we would appreciate your advice please. We did intend to go to Pézenas as it sounds a fun place but the reviews of the sites are not good. Agde is somewhere we haven't been to, any thoughts about that place please?

The aire at Pezenas isnt the best and certainly not on market day which from memory is a saturday. But it is one of the best markets we have been to. Well worth turning up for. If you have bikes there is a cycle route (cant remember if it is a disused railway or not) that runs from Beziers to the coast at Serignan I think.
Cant help out with campsites in that area though but a really good France Passion (which dont check if you are FP member) in Beziers that is on the south side and you can see the basillica or cathedral across the valley. The wine was good and only 4 euros a bottle.
Enjoy

We have been to Grau D'Agde for several years and have always used Campin La Pepinierre it is in the ACSI book and costs 14 euro. The pitches may be a bit rustic but the showers and pool are good. There is free wifi across the site ( also they do a stay for 7 nioghts and pay for 6 offer).
There is direct access to the cycle track/pedestrian path from the site. Thursday is the big market in Agde and there is a river taxi to Agde from the site gate.

Edit: You can get the Bus to Pezenas from the railway station in Agde the cost is 1 or 2 euro cant remember which. Saturday is market day in Pezenas. We caught the river taxi to Agde walked to the station and caught the bus. You can pre book the taxi to pick you up at a specified time. The camp reception will arrange that for you.

If you want to let everything go, there used to be a naturist beach at Les Montilles where you could park your campervan on the beach.

If you want an all singing all dancing site, where each pitch has its own private shower room the 5-star La Dragonniere campsite outside Agde might be worth a look. €22 euro a night with ACSI discount card. It's not within walking distance of town, but has extensive facilities and catering on site. Gets a decent ACSI score of 8.4. We spent the night there three years ago.

We are at Sommiers at the moment. It's a small campsite in the middle of a very pretty village. We paid €36 for two nights Inc EHU (leaving tomorrow). It used to be a municipal site and was bought by the owners about 18 months ago. Has a VERY small swimming pool still open, washing machine at €3.5 per large wash. Very shaded. Can't believe we managed to get a sat signal between the trees!

Has a chateau and lots of street cafes, apparently there's a flea market on Saturday right outside the campsite.
Is also on the Green Way cycle route. I can take some more photos when we go for a walk after the washer has finished lol. Toilets and showers are clean, basic, but useable. Lots of Dutch and Belgian motorhomes and they take ASCI if you have a card.
All in all its a nice little site and town.

We stayed in a massive Aire the other night at Gruissan, right next to the Med. €9 per night. Large harbour to walk around lots of restaurants, nice stopover.

Camping Berger du Canal at Villeneuve les Béziers. Superb fish restaurant in nice little town on Canal du MIDI. Can cycle to Fonserannes locks and up into Béziers, about 5 miles

Update on the camp site, just walked around the town, what a great little town, lots of little shoos and cafes. We had a coffee and a ginger beer at a very nice coffee shop just off the main square. I can highly recommend the town as being well worth exploring

Hello everyone, and thank you for the replies. We spent a two nights at the Municipal at Capestang which is a lovely little spot on the Canal de Midi. Unfortunately there are very noisy building works with lots of dust across the road from the site so eventually we had to leave. We would come back when all is finished though. We are now at the Aire in Beziers, at Sauclieres which is great for a short walk into the city which is lovely. The World Heritage nine locks are stunning and well worth a walk from the site. It takes about 30 minutes along the Canal de Midi. If it helps there is a lift to the top of the Cathedral into the city not far from the the medieval bridge across the River Orb. The food and small restaurants in Les Halle's in the centre are worth a glass of wine or two.
We will try Camping La Mer in Agde.
Best wishes,
Mike

You should try the France passion site, domaine du cote, right near the canal du midi multi lock system. It’s free and about 10 mins walk.. lovely wine as well..

We stayed there for a week in June. Lovely site. Would definately go again especially as it had steps into the swimming pool.

one part of the stay has holes in it that the catch, catches on (I think from memory)

they so also come in a range of lengths. But unless you have a supply it would be a guessing game.

In our neck of the woods, Sutton Coldfield, they go on throughout the year with any excuse for a celebration. You need a remote spot for a few days over the coming weekend well away from villages and towns. I was going to suggest where I was born but then remembered that there is now a mobile home site there so likely to be noisy. On the other hand take the Humberside Road from the village of Easington in East Yorkshire Put in the postcode HU12 0UA will get you near and park up at the end of the road near to the river bank. Ask in the village how to get there or look it up on Google maps. I would think that would be clear of anything as it is half a mile at least from any habitation.

I tried to remove the fridge freezer from my van to service it... despite huffing and puffing for around an hour it would not budge from its housing cabinet...so i sat and had a cuppa looking at it to figure it out...when i noticed the TV mounting bracket on the other side of the wall... unscrewing this all became apparent...whichever idiot installed the bracket had used inch and a half screws that had gone right through the wall and pierced the side of the fridge freezer....no wonder it wouldn't budge....

I have similar experience in difference between yacht and MH.

I only did one cross-channel passage as skipper of my own yacht and that was overnight Solent -Le Havre. 12 hours so set course and let the tide takes up the channel and back. Flat calm all the way. Boat was in Greece after that and passages were easier, or if dodgy I stayed in the bar till the next day.

MH trips are easier, because one knows that if anything breaks one puts on the handbrake and calls recovery, not possible at sea.

So my answer in a MH is excitement? - Yes, trepidation? - No.

There’s another story running saying it didnt happen.

That’s an increase

And you need to keep digging to find the charges for using over 50Gb - I gave up 😡

Can I ask if there is a solution to 'it getting too hot' as it behaved as normal on Monday on the way to the garage . Do I need to stop every few miles? Add some coolant somewhere? Something else?
TIA
Chris

6Really great cycle paths all around here as well.. What was the ACSI price in June ?
Phil upmeglass

There were 3 of us and 2 dogs. Had to pay for extra person and extra dog per night plus taxes. I think the ASCI price was 18 euros. Our 7 nights cost €178.46. We'll worth it. Many people were rebooking their pitch for the following year.
