Since 2008 after caravanning for 20 years
We stayed in Delft and popped up to Amsterdam on the train, excellent service and not expensive as I recall.

We stayed at Uitdam just near the causeway to Marken, bus into Amsterdam or Marken a walk away

Not cheap but a nice location. You can get a boat to Volendam from Marken and bus to Edam too. Nice spot.

5 years, feel free to ask me about the Carado!!
camping zeeburg
City camp access is a bit easier to the city centre via a shorter walk to the ferry than walking the fair way to the tram at Zeeburg, but lacks the 'vibe' of the campsite. If you have a scooter or bike city camp is probably better as the ferry takes bike lane legal vehicles and you right to the city centre FOC!

Stayed at City Camp last spring- it was very secure - not green and pleasant; a bit like a car park but SO near the ferry and the surrounding area. This is really up and coming- loads of trendy fab restaurants /live music/shops with a festival atmosphere on the way to the ferry ; also a huge tower called A'dam [a short push bike ride away - look it up on Google ?]- There is a free ferry to the main bit of Amsterdam; would recommend it as a base to Groan Ups ; not great for kids as no play area outside. But enjoy Amsterdam xx

Second vote for Camping Zeeburg, great facilities, cracking pub/ resturant and short to the tram into the city !!
