We are about to travel up from the south of Spain to Santander over a couple of weeks and thought we’d spend a few nights near Cadiz. Can anyone recommend a campsite within easy travelling, by public transport, for the city of Cadiz. We have rather expensive E bikes on the back of our van and don’t fancy leaving them it in an exposed public area if we leave the van and bikes for a day.

Thanks

Not too long before covid struck we stayed here.

Las Dunas camping in Puerto de Santa Maria ( ACSI)

It's a 25 minute walk to the excellent , cheap , regular catamaran ferry right into the centre of Cadiz. It took about 30 mins and cost a few euros

+1 For Las Dunas. You can easily catch the ferry over to the 'main' part of Cádiz, but nb the ferry used to have some draconian restrictions on carrying dogs on board.

+2 for las Dunas. Ferry to Cadiz, or train to Cadiz, Jerez and Seville.
We have stayed there many times

We've stayed at Las Dunas several times, excellent site and the town has some interesting features too (sherry tasting anyone?). But beware the ferry crossing if it's windy, it gets very, very rough. We were forced to come back by train/taxi couple of years ago!

I hope you enjoy your visit to Cadiz - the Las Dunas camping in Puerto de Santa Maria gets my vote too.

If you haven't been to Cadiz before - it's a very compact city and you can see a lot of it, on foot, in a very short time.

There are a number (4 I think) of walks which start from the Tourist Information Office, which is not far from where you'll land from the ferry.
(From memory I think you can see it from the ferry terminal)

Each walk is themed and "colour coded" by feet symbols painted on the floor. This link explains it :-
