Hi All, does anyone have any experience of Camping el Quinto just outside Mojacar? We popped in for a look around a number of years ago back in 2010. Now thinking of staying there for a couple of months in the winter. Any thoughts or knowledge would be appreciated.

We stayed there for two nights in 2016. It's a pleasant site, well-situated, and in February, when we were there, it was filled with almond blossom. It's German owned, and the toilets/showers are clean and warm.
However
We may have just been unlucky with our pitch. The site was almost full when we arrived, and we ended up near some other British people (the clientele is predominantly German.) These Brits were obviously regulars who came back to the same pitches every year, and they were distinctly unhappy that we had 'invaded their space.' The first couple told us that we could not park there 'because that's where our friends like to park their car.' o_O. We begged to differ.
Their friends returned in their hire car, some time later. This couple had slightly more developed social skills, and were prepared to talk to us. We were told (jokingly ), that that particular area of the campsite was reserved for 'Officers'. They wanted to know whether we were 'Officers,' or 'Other Ranks,' because they and the other couple were both (ex-army) 'Officers', and a pair of 'RAF Officers' were expected the next day, and would be wanting to park near them :LOL::LOL:.
I don't think we've ever experienced anything quite like it, and thinking about it always brings a chuckle.
So, to sum up - Nice site, friendly owners, very strange clientele. If you're thinking of spending any length of time there, unless your an 'Officer,' try to make sure you have a pitch well away from the British Sector.

We shall have to give it a go as there's nothing better than winding up ex officers who still think they are in the armed forces and think others should respect them for what they were, especially when it comes from a lower rank!
We, the memsahib and I, both spent time "before the mast" in the Royal Navy. Most of the officer corps in the early days were "pig's orphans" but there were also a lot that we were proud to serve under. Respect is something that is earned not just given (and that applies to all situations in our lives) When we leave the military we are then ALL just plain civilians, it is as simple as that. Have met a couple of ex-officers on our motorhoming adventures around Europe who have had to have "their horoscope read" to varying degrees of severity. We would have given a collective few back teeth to have been on the above site and to have the opportunity to "pin their ears back". Happy Days and Happy Motorhoming.
