Anyone stayed here? Thinking of arriving rhis Saturday for a few days on our slow route to benicarlo meet.

We stayed there last September. The guy at reception spoke very good English, the facilities are very good although the swimming pool looks a bit tired but was closed anyway when we were there. Biggest problem is it is in the middle of nowhere surrounded by plastic greenhouses and the beach was pretty unattractive - but we may not have seen it at its best as it was raining!

This from our Blog:

Our objective was Camping Don Cactus, a little east of Motril and more or less directly south from Granada. This turned out to be a fairly unattractive stretch of coast with vast areas turned over to intensive horticulture in plastic tunnels. Don Cactus itself was hemmed in by these plastic greenhouse on both sides and with a rather narrow shingly beach on the south side and a characterless village to the north it wasn’t a site which was immediately attractive although the welcome was warm enough. With a strong wind blowing and intermittent rain it felt like being in the Lake District when we sat down in the evening to our first supper of bacon and eggs on the trip so far.

Don Cactus sounds terrible.
There is an ACSI site on the Motril coast La Poniente but we stayed at the one next door Camping Playa Granada which we really enjoyed and it matches ACSI rates.

Shopping at Al Campo/Lidl and then just head for the beach.

Thanks guys.glad I asked.what a forum this is.
Cheers

Its not much better when the sun does shine and flies can be a problem.
