Which is best Caravan and Camping club or Caravan and Motorhome Club?
Are they worth it at all?

If your old, Free and Single, the Camping & Caravan Club as you can get a 25% discount off season (over 55yrs?) and your not charged for two people and they have cut price £10-15, THS's (Temp. Holiday Sites)

If your a younger couple......I don't think there much in it except the C&MHC sites are usually slightly more expensive although, quite often, the Club sites are next door to each other.

There are quite a few threads full of people’s opinions of which is best if you use the search facility at the top of the page.

I like the C&CC because it is cheap and cheerful (especially with the age discount) plus you can choose to have non-electric pitches however their facilities are sometimes a bit outdated.

Both clubs will be taking deposits with bookings from this year.

C&CC have a 2-night minimum stay at weekends and bank holidays at many sites.

What's your criteria for measurement?
Most people measure on cost, in which case the answer may be neither.
Just wait until you feel a need for one, or the other, and then join.
You can have plenty of fun without.

We do almost no campsite stays..
The C&CC suits us, like many other we like the THS (temp holiday sites) especially the prices and locations :giggle:(y)

But we are all different so depends on your camping style and what you want from a stopover.

We prefer the C&CC simply because of their Temporary Holiday Sites..
Us too. In fact we don't go anywhere else when in UK 👍

We have re joined the C&CC for exactly the same reasons . Temporary Holiday Sites will suit our touring preferences just fine until EU opens up again for MH travel .

We have been in the C&CC for years. I don't know why though. We never ever use their sites.

I think we joined because our insurance gave us a discount.
It one of those annoying direct debits that you mean to cancel but never get round to.
I suppose it depends what you like really.
Maybe it's perception but there seems to be more C&MC sites on search for sites.

Except for Bank Holidays, I've never been charged this, is it widespread? Or, is it because most of my camping's not in prime time?

Depends who you want as a neighbour.
CMC is more for middle class as one caravanning lady we was parked next to told me.
So we rough it with the CCC. seems ok though can't really see any difference.

I joined c&mc one year just to stay on one cl which was where I wanted to be. Wouldnt bother otherwise as their sites are expensive and excessively regimented. I'm told their toilet blocks are good if you use such things.

Not many of those around and mostly on grass pitches... if you want hard standing then I don't think many around that does not have leccy.... and we all know both clubs charge for leccy even if you don't use it.

Another vote for ccc club sites, excellent rates for over 60's, facilities at the ones I've stayed at have been clean and in good order and wardens friendly and helpful.

CCC membership also attracts a 15% discount and "age concession" when using "Camping in the Forest" sites (CITF). There are 6 sites in the New Forest and another 10 dotted around England/Scotland.

Details here: https://www.campingandcaravanningclub.co.uk/ukcampsites/campingintheforest/
If you are a singleton, you get 30% off on CITF sites, which beats the above discount. Any C&CC member avoid any charges for amendments on bookings made 3 days or more before arrival. But then as a single I think you get the 30% discount on the C&CC sites too. For me that often makes C&CC sites attractively priced and can be better value than most CS. By contrast I cannot fathom how to price the CMC sites. I have the perception CMC is a little more upmarket in their amenities, and they are more focused in their sites generally avoiding tent users. Some comment that C&CC can be dated, yet I've always found them functional and clean (far more so than CITF sites whose facilities are overused and abused hence I now use their basic sites and rely on the van's stuff). CMC has better coverage on CL type sites up in Scotland where C&CC seems to have negligible coverage much further than Inverness.

I agree! For me, the club sites are often much cheaper than a cl.

I paid just £5.21 per night at a C&CC site last year. (Midweek in July, old codger discount, no electric)

As a member of both, I marginally prefer C&CC. Largely because they allow tents. And tent campers are often more sociable.

Agree 100%. We are both "sitooterers" and you will defo see more tenters "sitting out" than anyone in a tin tent regardless of wether it has an engine or not.🤣🤣🤣

We are the same…most expensive crossword puzzle every month.
For us the c and mc sites are too stuffy ( which is what they can do with the little white post).

Not in any.
When we have exhausted private sites and the C sites that allows us riff raff on we will consider joining one...............maybe.
Till then dig deep.
