I joint this network in 2019 I bought the card and deposited 20€ on my account, well with COVID and other things I have never used it but have logged on from time to time to check balance etc. I can't find my card but my understanding is I can just get a new one at the entrance barrier when I do actually use it and thought that somebody might of found the card and used it but nobody had as I had no previous stays logged anywhere.

Then yesterday I thought I would login in a check again before my impending trip abroad and my credit showed zero I emailed them and received this I might say prompt reply:

Dear customer,

"Thank you for contacting CAMPING-CAR PARK customer service.
We had not seen any movement on your card for over a year.
Your card is valid for life and your credit of 20€ has been put aside as a security measure to avoid any fraudulent use of your PASS'ÉTAPES card in case of loss or theft.
After checking your details and identity, we have restored the 20€ on your account.
I hope I have answered your questions and invite you to consult the FAQ on https://www.campingcarpark.com/en_GB/faq
I look forward to seeing you in the areas of the CAMPING-CAR PARK network.

Why they couldn't email me and ask before they done this I don't know but think they should have and had no right to just remove the credit.

So just a quick heads up keep a eye on your balance !

I think you could argue it’s a good fraud measure. It probably does say they do this in the Ts and Cs somewhere that we all tend to skim over! It’s probably an automated thing.

I had great service from them this year after losing my card in Italy amongst other things haha! I emailed them and got a reply within a couple of days, I could get a new one free of charge on my way home from a machine or pay to get one delivered.

Sounds like good customer service to me too. Did you tell them the card has been misplaced ?
I'm sure they'll issue a replacement if requested.
I've used them this year and found them very good to deal with on a couple of occasions when I had queries.
Their telephone operators all speak excellent English

No they don't know the card has been misplaced my intention is to get one from the machine when I do use it, don't get me wrong they replied in10mins to my request which in this day and age is quite something but really don't think they have the right to remove money with not so much as a email to say they have.

If you get a new card from the machine, presumably you'll need to pay for it and you won't have your 20 euro balance on it ?

Well you didn't lose it.
Always keep our balance at zero, just put enough on the card to get out of the parking when we leave.
Same here. Before leaving a site, put the card in the machine and just pay the exact amount for the night. No credit kept on the card.

We were going to use the Camping Carpark in Mazamet last night but it is in a valley with no 4G so used the free municipal aire up in the town so we could watch the football.

I have only used one of the sites once. I expected the daily charge to come off the account as we entered. I checked the app now and again and it tells you how much it would be if you left now. So you can go in and use all the facilities, EHU to charge batteries and wifi to down load stuff and then leave. I think it said it would be about 5 € for a few hours.

I normally have a few euros on the card but our last stay was a long one as we liked the place so much. 95 euros odd, paid it leaving a zero balance.
The place is Toulon sur Arroux the aire is a previous municipal site by the river. All essential shops over the bridge but the cheapest wine is 10L boxes from the garden centre in the other direction.Easy walking distance but 10L boxes are heavy, however they have a largish car park if buying in bulk. We bought 200L.
