Frankia 840 good Luxury
Hi All, Just wondering do camp sites around the uk have a size limit what MH's they will accept, I've had a look at some and the max length is 8m.

We pick up our Frankia 840 good in 2 weeks time and its 8.4m long..will this still be acceptable or be turned away?

Cheers

we used to own a 36ft RV .. 11mts.. and it could be a problem finding suitable sites.

but 8.5 mt shouldn't be a problem..

some sites do have a 28ft rule / 8.5 mt rule .. this is generally due to available pitch size..

phoning ahead and asking if they have a suitable pitch would be prudent..

Some campsite operators may be aware that the access road weight bearing capacity may not be suitable for very heavy outfits such as larger RVs because the access roads were originally specified with caravan weights in mind. Motorhomes are only subject to pitch size limitations.

With the camping and motorhome club, ( where we are now)

Grant has a big Burstner, the only difference he faces is that he can’t book over the phone. You have to go to the site,, but he hasn’t had a problem yet!! He’s nearly 9 Mtrs long!!

We have seen large RV’s and motorhomes on both the main club sites in the UK where there was room to manoeuvre on to a suitable pitch. They don’t have a lot of longer pitches on any individual site, and some sites have none. Not all wardens are unhelpful, you only find out by giving the site a ring.

One of the things you have to be aware of yourself is overhanging tree branches on internal roads and overhanging pitches. Not too much of a problem if they are young new thin flexible growth. Be aware that where heavy and continuous pruning takes place you can get some very thick and inflexible branches hidden by the thinner stuff, and they will damage your unit.

I would love to measure it but i aint even got it yet :( I've been searching the net for a manual for it but to no avail , I've found similar models and i was assuming 840 meaning 8.4 meter as some models quote.

Theres so many variations tbh bd good ed qd etc etc

Think ill ring the dealer asking a few questions.

Thanks for all your replies & help

If a site has an 8 metre limit and you are 8.4 but tell them you are only 7.9 then you are asking for trouble, unless of course you know someone who has visited the site and knows the access roads, lanes leading to it, pitch sizes. We risked it a few times when we had our 8.4 metre 6.4 tonner and wish we hadn't.
Just ring ahead and find sites that can accept you, of which there are plenty.

When we had our RV we only stayed at a few UK sites but always looked at them on Google maps and rang ahead to ensure we could get in.
Only a couple of sites thought we might have trouble getting into the driveways but none were bothered about the length of the van ( 10 metres)

It could mean 8m and 4 birth and the 8m could be rounded up from 7.9m so your all set (y)

Phoning ahead generally gives a good response. Just phone with a fake name in case you want to chance turning a no into a yes lol

Doubt you would get in my place @Geo ... :giggler:

Only got a 10ft wide gate... :tounge:

Had a visit from a mate from down souf today on his way back down from Lancashire and he got the same as this through the gate and once through no problems.. reversed in and had to take two bites at it.. but he is just over 36ft with hell of an overhang .. :Eeek:

And parked where the two RV spots are.. (y)

With practice you will be able to get through the gate... :moon2::wink::rofl:

My van is 8.7m. Quite often when booking online it gets rejected on size. In those cases I ring the site directly, never been turned away yet. (y)
