Absolute NEWBIE
Just bought an Elddis 175 which has a rear camera of sorts .(clips over mirror). I have to turn it on/off manually but its pointing too far down.
Are these lenses normally fixed or should i be able to adjust it upwards. Tried undoing screws but doesn`t seem to want to move.

If it's pointing down to the bumper it will be a reversing camera. Very useful when parking.
If you're looking for a "rear view mirror" camera not sure whether you'd really want to adjust it (if actually possible) or fit an additional unit.

Elddis already come with them they are attached to the doors. One on either side :D

Get used to using mirrors especially reversing. You cannot rely on the camera to see everything.

A reversing camera pointing down at your back bumper is far more useful than a rear view camera. However, I found on Europe that some sliproads were really short and often the mirrors didn't give me a clear view because I'm on the wrong side of the vehicle. So now I've got a double lens camera.

We have a Waeco twin camera. I find the rear view camera indispensable on motorways etc because it covers the blind spot where tailgating cars are not visible in the mirrors.

My always on rear view camera has saved me a few times, with people parking right behind me and out of the mirrors view angle. Also I have had tailgaters right up behind me and not in the rear view mirrors (the Polish in Poland seem to make a sport of that).

Certainly my insurance company gives a discount for having a rear view camera, presumably because there are less claims for reversing disasters.

I had a twin lens camera (or rather two cameras on the same frame) mainly because of my toad car. One camera looked down to the towed car, the other looked down the road behind me. The monitor clipped over the rear view mirror, with a switch to change views. The main advantage was that it allowed a good view of overtaking opportunities, given that towing vehicles are not allowed in the third lane. Do not listen to the smarties who joke about wing mirrors, they see down the side of the vehicle, not the back. I drove HGV vehicles, with big wing mirrors, when turning they showed the side of my trailer, not the idiot going down my inside because I had gone wide to get 40ft of trailer round a tight corner. The bump of my trailer wheels was the first hint that all was not right.
Think safe, act safe, be safe.

That's the kit we have. Great for motorways and overtaking.

That price is rich. I would expect about £350

You may have the required wiring already in place for two cameras but currectly only using one channel.

Do what I did. Have a look where the camera comes into the van, maybe about 500mm -1000mm. There may be a Y branch going into one cable (that goes to the front of the van) If so you have the wiring for a twin camera set up and just need to connect the second camera.(or a new twin like your picture)

At the front the single cable then Y leads into two feeds to the monitor. Mine does this under the driver door step.

Pray tell--maybe i`m just thick---can`t find a single mobile one . tried phoning 4 garages with electricians yesterday but not interested.

having done a google, there are dozens of auto electricians near you, including mobiles. Good luck.

ok quick update--after many phone calls to try and get someone to look I finally found a caravan dealer who took it apart revealing literally half a tube of bathroom sealant stuffed into it. Now works perfectly, resealed properly and I can move it where I want. So, yes they do move .
