I tel CAMC re some Red Pennant Personal overseas travel insurance, (I have used the over the past ten years). and asked them before going through all the other questions if like some other insurers I could have personal insurance re a Scooter under 125cc which would be transported on a scooter rack and used for going into town from the campsite. I asked this question because in previous years they allowed upto 125cc motorcycles scooters to be included in the sports and activities section, but this year it wasnt listed hence the enquiry. There must be loads of folk on here who require motorcycle cover when travelling around on holiday. Please note we have the usual road and breakdown ins for the scooter, on another policy. I am thinking of leaving of the club as in many ways, we actually underuse the benefits on offer ie we have never used their sites etc. However I am looking now for some personal insurance or motoring and personal combined. Who do you use when travelling abroad with your motorhome and motorcycle.

I am not sure what insurance you are actually looking for that applies to the Scooter. If you have fully comp with European cover and European breakdown for it what other insurance do you need?

Personal, not vehicle cover.

Yes but the personal cover is included in the standard Red Pennant, no matter whether he has a motorbike or not.
That's interesting. My personal health/travel insurance limits the capacity of a motorbike with regard to personal injury cover when riding one.
My motorbike insurance only covers vehicle breakdowns and recovery, plus cover for third party claims in the event that I'm responsible for their injuries or bike damage.

Red Pennant is an all in insurance covering traditional travel insurance (including recovery) for the people and also motorhome breakdown and recovery. The problem is that the OP has not come back to tell us exactly what he wants the insurance for.

Hi Sorry to be late with the reply. Yes it is a complaint that the CAMC have changed their rules some what now re European Travel. In the personal medical travel insurance section of the Red Pennant policy it said until recently that upto 125cc motorcycles could be used while on holiday as long as you were insured and you wore a helmet. I can not see any ref to this on their present documents hence the enquiry. I have contacted them and said I wanted to insure my motorhome for the Personal and Breakdown parts of the Red Pennant policy. Everything has now gone pear shaped when they said that my immaculate and well maintained 50cc scooter was too old (1996) I have never been asked this before, and to cap the conversation off she said that the 2006 motorhome could not be covered (again serviced every year never claimed etc), but in my case they could consider it with unacceptable conditions to us which was a no no. So I am now looking for a stand alone breakdown ins for a motorhome 15 years plus. I have looked into joining the other club but I cant find out the age limits re the van with their RAC Arrival policy. There must be folk on here who travel to Europe with older vans, let me know who you choose. The only plus is that I am going with Staysure Holiday ins which covers the scooter no questions asked only that you have a helmet and license. The CAMC should have a warning on there site that you are generally expected to have a motorhome generally upto 10 years old, yes they do start restricting you what cover they offer as you get past that milestone. I have been with them for over a decade and it is often trumpeted as a friendly inclusive club. I say it is a club that is not working for all its members, it is becoming very elitist.
