Hello all! It seems a long time ago that we booked and paid the not inconsiderable price to camp from 31/07 to 04/08. It'll be our first ever music festival and we were wondering whether any other Funsters will be there.

Hi Jacq,
Went to Cambridge many years ago. I imagine it is a bit bigger now. Certainly enjoyed it. We did go to the Ely one last week. Excellent value and not too big (our first music festival with the MH). I'm sure you'll have an excellent time.

Booked into the Cherry Hinton CC site and looking forward to the festival.

50th anniversary year this year. I think the only one I was at must have been the 9th, in 1973. I went because my sister was there at university, so provided a floor to sleep on & because I wanted to see Steeleye Span play live, which I hadn't done since Newcastle a couple of years earlier. Main memory was that it was blazing hot.

Even then it was one of the major festivals - not that there were anything like so many to chose from then.

It's an expensive festival to go to these days - you need pretty much the whole line-up to be your taste to make it good value.

I went in, I think 1977, in a 1935 Paris bus - we were promoting Pernod, and served it out of a back window - the queue was long all weekend, so hard work! It was very enjoyable, the sun shone all weekend and Don McLean was the star.
