Just had the belts changed along with everything else in there. Mine's an AClass so a b...... to get to without dismantling the front end. Local trustworthy independent carried out the work. Total bill was £310.
It would have been much less if more accessible.

Cheap no good
Good no cheap
Prices bandiedabout above do not reflect vat registered business carrying full insure ce cover. Using quality branded and warrented full belt and tensioner pulley parts kits
Warranty comes in two halves
1. Faulty workkmanship carried by the workshop
2.Faulty parts carried by the parts supplier
And both cover the cost of
1.Damage caused to engine
2.labour for rectification
Take vat out of £200 =£160 take away e bay parts leaves £100 .
Cheap labour 3 hrs@£25 (where?)
If you believe your cheapy spannerman going to stand a possible 2.5k bill should anthing go tits up for a £25 profit
Dream on he can only make more by using chinese none warrenred parts or not fitting a full kit .

Just had the same engine done.
New cam belt and water pump.
Oil and filter change.
£550.
Someone suggested (on here) to get the garage to supply as they will then be responsible for the parts. Did so.
The belt and pump are warranted for the service interval, so five years, including any subsequent repairs to the engine due to belt failure.
Could have done the oil/filter myself, but while they had the van seemed a lot easier.
Local vat registered trusted garage.

You made a lot of right choices(y) however
Im totaly suprised and amazed at a 5 year warrany
I would advise clarification before you have any need to use it

The phrase " there you go sir you now have 5 years piece of mind" does not imply a 5 year warranty
I am seriously concerned about any interpretation that you may have applied to what was actually said
Whilst the belt change interval may be 5 years (usualy 4) any warranty is usually 12 month or 12000 miles
I hope you are proven right.
More to the point i'd hate you to be wrong if you need it

Geo,
I will check with them, nothing in writing I must admit, but told to take care of receipt for the service interval, as the supplier of the parts has a separate insurance covering belt failure for the service interval.
In my case this will be time rather than distance related.
The supplier is a large parts supplier in this area.
