Cambelt change

Sounds like a good price. Trust they used genuine parts?

Good price, how are the front disc and pads looking for the age and mileage?
I ask as we had both jobs done at the same time as the pads were down to about 3 / 4 mm.
Mike.

Don't know what parts he used, and not to bothered either. No idea about the discs, when it goes in for MOT and service next year he can check.

This is my point always.

Providing they are oe parts alls good.

Fiat don’t make cam belts, water pumps, idler pulleys etc etc etc
But there are very cheepo badly made chineese ones out there and some very good european made ones.
Depends which they source and how much the place doing the job wants to mark up.

M L Autocare Martlesham.
Just a little garage on the road a couple of miles away.
You either trust someone or do it yourself.
If I had a nice warm workshop with a pit I probably would, but I don't so I would rather pay someone else.

I can’t argue with that.

But most people would take due diligence when having work done on their vehicle and know their mechanic.

Emphasis you don’t want cheap parts fitted and all should be good.

Generally small garages tend to look after customers and using a modern expression are “invested” in your vehicle.

You probably won’t have the free coffee, the posh seating area and all that goes with overpriced main dealers.

But you will get someone who prides him/herself in the job they are doing.

price seems ok but has he fitted new water pump as the seals fail over time. most belts are made by gates rubber co which are quality tensioners are universal and cheap ones can fail. but check on the water pump?

Not going to worry about the pump or any other part of the engine, if breaks or leaks I will get it fixed.
The belt was my only concern, if breaks your looking at a lot of pennies, most other stuff is small beer.

Agree wholeheartedly with your thought process.
The garage would have used quality OE parts…it’s not in their interest for their Job to fail.
They don’t want the hassle and they want your business next year.
No point worrying about all the failures that may happen…we would never venture out !
