Spotted this gadget & thought some might like it - we have no real need for one but still want one (must resist :wait:) as it's so clever!

Apparently it was manufactured in Germany in the 1990s so old stock but can be bought from £9-£15 delivered here https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_nkw=calypso+cup+holder&_sacat=0&_sop=15
Has anyone got one? Does it stick or suction onto the dashboard? Are there any other versions like this?

Good to know we aren't the only ones to be tempted! :hi5:

I have absolutely no need for this whatsoever, so why on earth do I really, really want one?

Found this other self levelling cup http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/710-5...0001&campid=5338547443&icep_item=201828870678 £19.99 delivered but not as motorhome friendly or appealing:

Still clever though:

Surely if you have to slam the anchors on whatever liquid is in the cup is going to fly out.

We thought that but looking at the video even with heavy braking it looks like it copes but will be good to get some Funster feedback on it.

I don't need one but I nominate this thread for "Title of the Year". :)

Having contacted the eBay sellers understand that the Calypso is fixed by adhesive pad or can be screwed to a flat surface & mostly sold for use on plant, agricultural machines & boats.

Have just received a Calypso :blusher: - first impressions is how heavy it is which is not surprising as it has small ball bearings inside. Although it comes with adhesive strips using super strong Velcro Amazon product ASIN B00186Q9AK might work better as only a limited fixing area but not if silicone spray has been applied. There are also screw holes so if used on a dashboard then screw fixing would be much more secure especially considering the damage it could do if it broke loose! Can imagine it would work well fixed to a large dashboard in a big A Class, RV, trucks or boats but not on our little dashboard in our van conversion. Hope that helps anyone considering this gadget. Will have a play with it later.

Sorry I don't get the obsession with drink/cup holders on this forum.
I've got a Motorhome if I want a drink I stop and have one in comfort.

I do worry about how much room (and payload) is left in the Wombles van for it's occupants. They seem to be suckers for any gadget going :)

That's the second time you've posted that now! :roflmto: Know that you are joking as you have met us & seen our van but have to confess gadgets & especially motorhome related ones are a bit of a hobby for us - we've even helped develop some.

And it's because I know your van isn't that massive I make the comment. I'm just waiting for you to invest in a trailer
