Just been advised by my brother who is also a MH freak that Calor has put out a recall for all lightweight gas bottles (with the grey top) between 2008 - 2011.

I use these things and have had no issues with them but am going to contact Calor tomorrow

This was posted a couple of weeks ago, when I checked mine, it was dated 12 so didn't come into the recall, so I took it to a local garage that re-fills bottles, 12 lt for £6-odd, much cheaper than calor at about £25 ish. " Robbin bstards."

I hope they stuck to the same 80% capacity safety cut-off as refillables have built in.

One cylinder dated 2011, requires replacing.

Will take it in next week together with copy of recall spec.

The cylinder is only half full, lucky me. They replace with new full cylinder.

I was not aware that you can refill these cylinders at garages. How easy is this?

I had 3 all within the recall date took them back to Calor depot, 1 full, 1 paart full, 1 completly empty and got 3 full in exchange, they did try and not replace the empty one until I stood my ground about the wording of their recall message. If you bottle as a puncture mark in the top alloy ring it as allready been sorted, none of mine had. Pete

If the garage has a proper adaptor they can do it quite easily. This particular garage fills the bottles of a nearby engineering company and they put me onto it.

I had two which I haven't used for a while, one empty one 1/3 full. Took them back to my local Calor dealer and changed on the spot, no questions asked just complete couple of forms.

Anybody want a new, full Calor 6kg cylinder?

Taking it back as we are going away to France for a couple of weeks and prefer to have 2x full cylinders with me. Otherwise I would agree totally!
