I must be getting a bit out of touch with things, went to change an empty 13Kg propane bottle yesterday to be asked for £37.99 in return. Well after having a bit of a paddy and then being convinced by Emma that my life wouldn't be worth living if she couldn't have hot water for a shower I went back in and paid.

Normally pay around £11 in Spain and even in Portugal where its dearer at around £22.

We've got an onboard tank but not always suitable to just drive of and fill up so use the bottle as a back up.

I remember when !!!! lol.

I agree Calor is expensive - just paid £25 for a lightweight bottle! I might have to consider refillables.

Didn’t know you could still get the lightweight ones, they were always more expensive than the standard ones.

@Pausim - I’m also surprised re the availability of the lightweight bottles as I understood they were being withdrawn. However in the last 3 months I have managed to get 2 bottles from my local Calor depot and a friend exchanged one at a C&CC site also.

@Cal54 interesting, I have already converted to a single 13kg Alugas refillable rather than going back to the heavy ones.

Good job you didn't want a Camping Gaz refill - the 907 (2.7Kg) is £34.99 :D. Calor and Camping Gaz should be tried for highway robbery

Yes went to exchange one of the 904s the other day. before I fell to the floor I'm sure she said £27.99, put it back in the van and we'll exchange it when we get back to Portugal, only 9.99 there.

It would take a really, really powerful, number crunching computer to calculate exactly how many hundreds and hundreds of euros I have saved myself by investing in my Gaslow system all those years ago.

(Not to mention the bottle filling adapter I use if I want to fill my Calor lite bottle).

How I hate the Calor Gas company and all those who sail in her...

Do they do a smaller gas bottle like the small Calor in Spain? Larger than the Campinggaz 907, about the size of the French Le Cube?

Just swapped a 6kg bottle today, £21.99, same price I paid in June. Only use perhaps three bottles a year so price doesn't matter too much.

I emailed Calor about the price difference this morning and this is the reply I've just had back. Ive learnt my lesson for next time and will go to a depot instead of an agent.

Good Afternoon
Thank you for your email.
Our stockists can charge a different figure to what our standard price is as they purchase the products directly from Calor.
Kind regards

Just checked Go Outdoors, 13 kg £25.19.

I bought one elsewhere a year ago , £29 , need to put it down to experience I'm afraid.
Go back with a mask on and tell them you're going to do a Dick Turpin and rob them.
