When you think of how many gas bottles are in circulation throughout The UK and Europe on leisure vehicles in domestic property etc etc all changed over by untrained amateurs i do not read of many accidents happening. I read about road traffic accidents etc all the time....BUSBY.

absolutely correct..

because the bottles and regulators have been designed to be changed by the public.. many are now 'fool proof' clip on/off regulators, .. no spanner required.. that is not to say there are no accidents.. unfortunately there are , because you can't engineer the idiot out of the equation.. and accidents do happen.. even at LPG filling stations using the correct equipment..

LPG is a highly volatile and explosive gas.. it is only because we have regulations and set procedures that accidents involving gas cylinders are minimal.. breach the regulations and you increase the risks of an accident.

but I fail to see what this has to do with OP and refilling a Calor Lite bottle .. also, comparing changing a gas bottle and RTAs is comparing apples and pears.

A motorhome has a potentially deadly mix of LPG, diesel fuel, lead acid batteries, flammable materials and many ignition sources .. lets try to keep it as safe as possible and not encourage others to take unneeded risks..

You will never take the idiot out of the equation. When i was employed by Total delivering petrol etc people would be smoking on forcourts whilst you were delivering. Asked a guy once to put it out and he apologised and then threw it down the manhole that i was discharging into....BUSBY.

When I worked for Pirelli, the tyre builders each had an "explosafe" can of petrol distillate they used when making carcasses, at the end of the shift, one of the guys emptied his down a drain by the locker room. An electric fork lift drove over a manhole cover and ignited the fumes, it lifted about five cast iron manhole covers in the factory and there was a mini tsunami in the toilets

reminds me of my time at India Tyres Inchinnan, where I served my apprenticeship..

in those days the tyre builders used Benzine ( before it was banned for being carcinogenic ) and we quite often had fires in the pit behind the Bag-O-Matic tyre moulding machines due to them being 'careless' with it and putting it down the floor drains.. quite sure it was deliberate....

Why is a gaslow or alternative refillable bottle with remote fill point "a risk". HSE guidance says they are OK.

propane bottles only have 11kgs of gas in. Butane have 12,5kgs.
Good price though as a propane refill is 15,40 € alone.(y)

Ideal for exchanging . Regulators are illegal as those shown are adjustable & A) are illegal for use in domestic properties/Spanish motorhomes, as the fixed pressure type should be used only. The adjustable ones are normally for industrial use when using propane or butane in place of acetylene for gas welding/cutting; or for large blow torches.

Where did you find that? Cant see it anywhere!

Received a letter from them on Thursday 6KG propane £16.20, 13KG propane £24.99, 47KG propane 46.52.
Prices are for collected direct from calor depot for account holders but should be reflected in general sales eventually.
Easy enough to open an account though even with an account you can still pay on collection if you prefer or they deliver for 50pence, used to be free.
