Calor must be getting quite desperate for gas bottles.

I've just had a flyer from Go Outdoors offering £10 voucher to spend in store for every empty bottle returned.

Offer runs till end of October, max 3 bottles per person and no refund of hire charges without original agreement.

I've got two old empty 15 kg butane Calor bottles in the shed that I inherited from my dad. Hung on to them "just in case" but never used them and I've put them on eBay a couple of times and never sold, people only seem interested in the 6/7kg bottles.

So off to Go Outdoors, I'm sure I can find something I don't really need to buy for £20 ::bigsmile:

<Broken link removed>

Just got mine too, that'll be £30 for me then 👍

I don't think I kept my initial rental agreement.
Rotten luck too for the guys at my local tip with a locked cage full of 'em.

Sprddler, that’s the point, you don’t need your agreement to get the £10

Just looked on Ebay, one guy appears to have 2 full 6 kg Calor lite bottles for £1 !!!!! But then I read ......
LAST 2 BOTTLES IN STOCK FOR IMMEDIATE COLLECTION.

Calor 6kg bottles also available, please see my other items.

The £1.00 buy it now payment is a fully refundable deposit to reserve the 2 x full Calor lite 6kg propane bottles as shown in the photos.
These are direct from Calor and the last few bottles until i get my next delivery in late August assuming Calor can supply.

The £1.00 deposit will be fully refunded when the buyer collects and pays the remaining £140.00 by cash on collection WITH NO EXPENSIVE BOTTLE DEPOSIT.

Reckon you're right (y)
The mention of rental agreement is for the separate issue of returning a bottle with a rental value attached.
Applicable for Calor gas bottles under 7 years old, iirc

Well that isn't how I read your post:

My original agreement with Calor was for the hire, not the purchase, of a cylinder.

Sorry but I thought it made sense - you don't get your money back for the original hire charge (i.e. the original £40 you paid when you first got the bottle) unless you have the original hire agreement, you just get a £10 voucher for the bottle.

If like me you never had the hire agreement so no chance of getting the original hire cost back, you still get the £10 voucher

You might be better off standing in the queue at Go Outdoors and buying the bottles off the returners for £11. Who knows, some may even have gas in them.

Why? I'd just end up with a load of bottles I don't want

I made several attempts over a period of more than a year, unsuccessfully trying to return an unwanted 16kg Calor Gas domestic cylinder which had been left in my garage when I purchased my house to the Bristol Calor depot. During that same period I witnessed two more locally dumped 16kg cylinders being collected by a city council streetcar team. Finally succeeded in returning my own in July. I wish I had known of the Go Outdoors flyer. Missed out on the £30 profit and little wonder cylinders are in short supply !
