Hi all

Received this Special Offer today through email. We stayed here a few years ago when we were caravan lovers (well Geo was, I couldn't stand it). It's a very nice site, with plenty to do for the kids, a nice pub with food on site and it is in the heart of the Derbyshire Dales.

So if you are stuck with somewhere to go this bank holiday then perhaps you may like to consider this. :thumb:

The links may not work as I have cut and pasted this from my email.

Happy holidays everyone. Sorry we won't be able to join you as we will be on our way South through Spain heading for Morocco.:winky:

Hi Tony

Yes, we could be up for that, why don't you or Ruth give them a call and see if they can accommodate a load of us, say the weekend of 11/12 October??:thumb:

Unfortunately I am really busy at the moment (as you can imagine) and will not have time to make any enquiries?

We'll be up for it and it will be an opportunity to toast your new baby.:thumb:

Hi Ruth

Not sure when half term is (and I work in Education at that ) but if you prefer to leave it until the next weekend then that's ok by us. May be other people will want to do the same anyway - Derbyshire will be busy any holiday period.

What ever the outcome, put our names down, chances are we may not be able to keep in touch much after Sunday. If you have to pay a deposit up front can you pay ours and I will give it you back when we see you. Thanks :thumb:

Hi Ruth

I had a feeling you may say that. Never mind I'm sure you'll find somewhere for us to toast baby.

I suppose she landed safe and sound today. Can't wait to see her.

As far as Callow Top is concerned anyone who has a motorhome or RV up to 30ft should take advantage of their special offer and enjoy a nice weekend.

Don't worry about us with the larger units I'm sure we'll find somewhere to rest our weary wheels:cry:

As I live locally to the site, some local reports say it can be a bit noisy at night due to partying and plentiful supply of local beer. I have not stayed there so cannot confirm.

Hi David

We stayed there a few years ago when we had a caravan. I think it can only be expected to be noisy when the site has a pub, playing park for the kids and an outside swimming pool.

When we were there our pitch was right over the top end and so did not suffer from any noise at night unless your contacts were listening to us after a few bevvies of course.:ROFLMAO:

If you only want quiet sites then sites with amenities for kids should be avoided anyway don't you think:winky:

DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT!!!!!!!!!

Honestly, we stayed there three years ago and it was the SITE FROM HELL. The pitches were dirty little weed infested areas, muddy and wasps in their millions. The management couldn't have cared less once they got your money (and it wasn't cheap). They had a kids disco until 2am on a Sunday, and the adults were noisy long after that. The showers were filthy and toilets even worse.

We wouldn't go back there if they paid us.

stayed there last year and they were offering half price pitches but the pitches are the smallest i have ever stopped on. Definitely not for anything over about 25 feet. would generally agree with comments above also pitch black at night no lighting anywhere.
