Hi Funsters,

We own one of these and wondered if other there are any i5836 owners who are Funsters as well?

It would be good to exchange ideas and tips particular to this model for e.g LPG, reversing camera, etc

I will post in the continental models forum as well, btw we are members of the D.O.C. as well.

It would be good to hear from you!

Regards
Dave & Cathy

I'm a newbie
Hi @david E - Can't claim to be i5836 owners but since there don't seem to be many of us "Deffy's" on here thought I'd chime in anyway. We have a 2010 Globebus i5 - we are relatively new to all this motor homing malarky but have worked through some issues so always happy to compare notes. Couple of points - LPG - We recently had a conversion done by Autogas from exchangeable bottles to fixed bottles with an external filling point. Don't know if this is on your agenda but can wholeheartedly recommend Autogas - they were superb. Also, Dethleffs Owners Club - we have joined too but struggle to get any responses to e-mails etc....how have you found it? As it stands at the moment I'm not sure I'll be renewing the subscription.

Hi Steve, thanks for replying.

It's great to hear from another Deffy!

I have done a bit of research in to LPG refillables and have heard very good reports about Autogas and a couple of others.

We want to have LPG with an external filler point but on this model there is no facility to put one on/in the skirt as each panel is an outside locker door and there isn't any room to fit one underneath, but we have got loads of fantastic storage!

Didn't fancy using a hole saw on the body either by myself or a professional. I guess will be taking the van to a specialist over the next few weeks and see what they suggest.

I have not had a problem with DOC emails and contact, they don't give a number so all comms is electronic but Richard Olphin has been very helpful.

Sometimes there is a delay due to holidays weekends etc but otherwise I have found them very helpful, they helped me to source a new window plus some other parts very quickly and easily, plus we got a discount as members - that itself paid for the membership for a year or two!

Also I got a decent discount on my insurance, I went through all the rigmarole that you do with various companies, selected one for ourselves and then mentioned the DOC membership and got a further discount.

I hope you have a better luck with the club next time.

Regards
Dave

Hi Bill,
Good to hear from another Deffy, I just googled your van and I really like the look of it. Is it like this? You can see the similarity between the models!
