Wonder if anyone can help out here.

We have a cadac chef which came with the reversible griddle plate. One side is dished a bit like a frying pan and the other side is a griddle plate. So far so good. Use the frying pan side all is well. Flip it over to use the griddle side and because it has no lip on it any juice from the meat runs off the side into the bottom of the BBQ leaving a nice mess to clear up.

Am I missing something like a catch dish which goes under the griddle plate. Or does everyone else just clear up the mess after using the griddle plate?

If yours is the same as mine, we were advised to put some water in the base of the bbq, then all the fats and oils will sit on the water, making it easier to clean up after.

Tried that, didn't work.
The minimal quantity of water you can pour in soon 'boiled' off.
Best bet, though fiddly, would be strips of tinfoil placed around the bottom.
Simply bin the foil when the grease has cooled.

it is designed that way to stop your food swimming in fat. The pan is actually called a fat collector for that reason.

I fully understand I don't want food swimming in oil ect however A far better design would have been a griddle plate with an integrated, removal drip tray like Webbers have.

Still I know what I am dealing with now and at least am not going to convince myself I am missing bits :)
