can anyone point me to where I can find some cable entry flanges, i’m drilling 2 holes in the floor above the battery box and rather than just have cables going through the floor i’ve seen some sort of a plastic flange in a friends moho that screws down so it looks a lot neater.

I’ve scoured google without success, my mate thinks they were Italian manufactured and maybe used for solar cables but I simply cannot find anything that even looks like them

it’s not a gland with a seal, it’s just a flat flange type of thing

any ideas anyone

Al

I suspect you should be searching for a grommet, rather than a gland. I know that's not quite what you are looking for either, but I think it might be a better match.

The other option is have somebody 3d print some for you. I believe PaulandChrissy does this

Lol, you can also get rubber grommets for metal boxes to protect the cables going into the boxes, you just need to drill the right size hole.

I use these coax wall grommets to neaten up my cables going through panels and the floor, available as a single or double cable.
For multiple cables I just cut the flanges to get the width I want.
They are available in brown, white and black and take up to a 8mm diameter cable.

Another vote for the plastic pipe inserts. They come in a range of sizes and either plastic or stainless steel. They look very tidy and are as cheap as chips.

hi Paul

just a follow up to your very informative post, i think you've nailed it with these tbh, i've attached a photo of the cable and i'm thinking the double (elliptical holed ones) ones will be great for the cable between the inverter and batteries. the width of the crimp connector is 20mm and each cable is 8 mm. i can then use the single round holed ones for the solar cables as you have, btw yours looks very neat as well, i'm impressed. Are they flexible at all like a rubbery manufacture or hard plastic?

where do you get these from btw and once again thank you and the same to everyone else

Hi Al, all those "hole tidy" plugs can be found on ebay unless you know a sky installer, as they use them. Your problem with a big wire as in the photo is that it will not pass through with the crimp on as they are a fairly hard plastic. You may be able to put a cut in one side to open up the hole though

They are available in white, brown and black

Your cable will not go through as it stands.

They are hard plastic and the brown ones are a stupid price for small quantities on eBay, but I have about 100 of the brown if you do want to go that way.

I have used PaulandChrissy to knock up a few one off 3D printed bits for me, so rather than trying to make do, why not get Paul to make exactly what you want.
I can send him one as a sample and he can then alter to suit your needs.
