The three night escorted tour sounds outrageous.
The other two a bit less so. I guess these tours are popular or they wouldn't advertise them.

Ever since lighting was by Calor gas.
It just reflects the hike in CAMC pitch charges.
I'm not sure that the offer of breakdown facilities was a positive move.

I'm starting to think that this 'club' is getting too big for its boots. Expanding into other areas along with its price hike might put it at risk. Maybe someone will introduce another 'club' that competes with the big two. The time seems right.

I’m a keen supporter of the CMC but even I balked at those prices , however ……. the ticket prices for the tattoo are astronomical and that’s the main part of the £849 , cheapest ticket for the tattoo is £200 and all price tickets are scarce .
If someone had asked me to guess at a tattoo price I would of said £50 .

I see several drawbacks without the expensive prices:-

Edinburgh 'Tour' is just 3 nights on one campsite and Yorkshire one on two - hardly touring.

You get bused around - you could do a coach tour to do that.

Nice of them to include 'Free leisure time'

It is about time people realised it is not a club it is a business out to make massive profits, they have lost touch with the ordinary member.

Aren't all clubs businesses? Every club I can think of has to balance the books by either making a profit on each transaction to cover inflation/depreciation, or by asking the members to subsidise the running. At some point the members will want a larger choice or better facilities and again, it would surely need to be either funded by profits on club transactions or by members subsidies.

I am not voicing an opinion on the costs of membership or site fees, but on the basis they maintain a healthy membership, you can only surmise that the membership board in conjunction with the employees must be doing a pretty good job of maintaining the right balance between profit and membership subsidies.

As to if that balance suits individuals personally, well surely that is where freedom of choice comes in - either be a member or dont.

I se the price of the Tattoo tickets alone at the cheapest would be £330 for two going up to £680? So maybe not too bad depending on which tickets you were getting. However, cheaper to book a CL, buy tickets directly on line and even hire a car for a tour round Edinburgh
