Stayed a couple of times but a few years ago. We're not keen on sites really but as a location for visiting London its a great spot. Only a 10 minute walk from the train station. Had very good security from memory, high fences with barbed/razor wire on top and access only available on foot after a certain time.

Photo from our stay.

Don't wish to hijack this thread but someone recently said that Crystal Palace site has had a reprieve. I asked at the C&MC stand at the NEC if this was the case and they said that as far as they knew it was still closing in December.

We were there and the wardens said they were open next year now!

We have stayed regularly and would rate it highly for a site. Easy 10 minute walk to station. Frequent fast trains to centre. Can change at Greenwich for DLR across Thames. Also quite a few bus routes. I would recommend a tourist Oyster card, easier and more secure than credit card, get them via tfl web site.

We have stayed there twice and its a good site and is only a short walk to railway station, its very popular with foreign campers and has always been a busy place .

Caravan since 1970, motorhome or RV since 1999 then back to a caravan in 2017.
Stayed last year, excellent site but you do need to take care as it is very, very, close to the LEZ. One wrong, Left, turn and you have to pay (unless your vehicle is exempt). The Pied Bull, in the LEZ, did good food and, as said, the station (and a small row of shops and a Chippy) are just a short walk away.

Hope you enjoy it.

We used to stay there when we visited London regularly but that was a few years ago.
For access we always followed the club directions to the site. After the first time I asked a warden why it was a relatively long way round when the roads seemed OK and he told me that there are a couple of bends on other roads which can be awkward for large vehicles and there had been accidents when that was coupled with the driving standards of locals.

If you prefer a CL then at Newbury Park there is Aldborough Farm. It’s a slightly longer walk but there is a tube station at Newbury Park. We’ve stayed at this CL many times and there’s hard standing and it’s really quiet.

From Club site

We are pleased to announce that The London Borough of Bromley Council has recently informed us that the plans to redevelop the area where Crystal Palace Club Site is located, have been temporarily postponed. These redevelopment plans would have closed the Crystal Palace Club site forever, from the end of December 2018.

Following discussions between the Council and the Club, we have agreed terms for a short term lease while they plan the redevelopment works. This lease will enable us to keep the site open until mid-December 2019. There is a possibility that the lease could be extended further, but this will be communicated to our members later next year.

We know London is a very popular destination and are pleased to enable our members more time to enjoy one of our most popular and historic sites!

Been there quite a few times when we go watch Arsenal and take in a show /museum etc. It’s very well located and easy to get the train in, or cycle along the path. The cycle ride to Greenwich is great. Follow their route and you’ll find it easily. The people running the site are very friendly.

There are a lot of trees, so if it rains you might need ear plugs. :D

It’s well worth it. We went to London recently just for the day and parked our car in an NCP car park and took the tube in. When we came back the car had been vandalised. So after excess insurance costs, loss of no claims etc Abbey Wood is much cheaper.:D

We stay on Abbey wood and Crystal Palace. Both have easy London connections but AW is easier, the No 3 bust can take ages depending on the traffic. AW will have Crossrail soon if not already and will be even easier.
There is a great café near the station as well.
