Buying wine in Santander?

Hi all. Anyone have current recommendations for good place to buy a box or two of wine before boarding a ferry out of Santander? Our first time in this area. Any comments appreciated. Thanks!

If you want boxes rather than bottles I'd just head for the nearest large supermarket but sorry no personal experience of the area.

Ok, many thanks. That is our usual strategy in France, so we will try it here in Spain.

If you like red you could get a couple of bottles of Ribero del Duero. Probably pick up a reasonable one for not too much

All supermarkets sell wine... good, bad and indifferent.
I’ve not looked for boxes so I can’t say whether they stock them. I’ve never seen Spanish wine in boxes but maybe because I’m not actively looking for them.

There is quite a good wine shop at the port.

If you come off the motorway at Santoña. There are quite a few supermarkets in one small area. Including Lidl (See photo).

But there is also a giant Carrefour in Santander.

I’m not sure where you are heading from. But there are plenty of Bodegas and supermarkets around the Haro, Rioja region.
