Can anyone advise me whether right hand drive new motorhomes are available for purchase on the continent, just thinking if the euro is now 130 to the pound then that's a discount of app. 23 per cent off euro prices, or am I wishing for too much.

Since 1996, had Elddis/Swift/Rapido/Rimor/Chausson MHs. Autocruise/Globecar PVCs/Compactline i-138
The only ones I've ever heard of was a company that Eddie (Judgemental) used in Germany who had some new RHD PVC conversions on their books, can't remember who it was though, that was back in October last year so whether they'd still have any left I don't know.

Thanks, I suppose it is worth considering LHD Techno100 especially as 90percent of our trips are abroad, the only worry perhaps would selling it with LHD.

Why worry about selling it? I for one was very keen to buy mine second hand.

I'm sure you could find a dealer who would order you a rhd vehicle from the mfrs.. the thing is they would likely charge a premium and then you might negate the cost saving.

Euro motor homes should get cheaper to buy in the UK anyway with the weaker Euro but I expect the UK importers and dealers will soon soak that up

Techno100, Point taken.
Mjltigger, I am sure they will, what gets me is why are the motorhomes dearer here after all they are made on the continent, I thought the Gov. of the day here brought the price of cars into line with the continental Makers (I am talking about Bmw Mercs Audi etc) so why not motorhomes.
I feel better now sorry .

Prices of stock cannot go up and down as fast as the exchange rate. All current stock has been built on higher prices in labour and materials. It would take a year of lower prices before even the slightest chance of it filtering through to retail.

Also major converters will have bought parts and materials for possibly a whole year ahead at yesterdays prices and workers are not taking pay cuts.

Does that mean a tight Scot can't ask? or that there is no excess charged -you're a man of very few words but fantastic photo guides
Thanks

No there is no surcharge to insurance to my knowledge. Insurance cannot say they didn't know as the VIN reference will establish its origin.
Safeguard know the facts and placed no importance on it.
It is more likely that you could be charged more for driving RHD in europe

Anyone doing even 1 mile more per year in Europe is better off with LHD IMHO FYI AFAIK ROFPML
Wifey likes it when I drive around at 50 55 over here seeing as she's on the hospital side. In Europe it is better for both of us for obvious reasons. I am completely in my comfort zone anywhere (y)

I've been driving in Europe since I was 18, always in RHD. The only time I've ever had an accident was trying to change gear with my right hand and getting first and reverse confused..

Totally agree we've only ever had 1 RHD camper the rest have all been LHD in fact we turned down a beautiful S820 we found because it was RHD. We do more miles abroad than here and so much easier and safer to drive LHD than RHD abroad and absolutely no effort driving LHD here. As for LHD being cheaper  urban myth try telling that to Travelworld or Brownhills or any other dealer see how much discount you can negotiate for LHD.

65% of the world population live in countries that drive on the right.
Driving on the left dates back to roman times in England and passing each other with your sword arm nearest your opposite.

Interestingly JAPAN drive on the left like us for feudal reasons along with others.

Or..

See by your account, the French started everyone driving on the left because Napoleon was disabled (aka cack handed) so then we drive on the correct left hand side of the road. I actually like the horse and 4 answer better though.. although it sounds less plausible...

I like this bit, money talks!
Since September 2009 Samoa drives on the left instead of the right.
The main reason for this is that they want to use right-hand-drive cars, for instance from Japan and New Zealand, which both drive on the left.
