Probably better to start with the buying.
after arranging a price and a sale of our van through "we buy your motorcaravan" last week we set our sights on buying a different van at the weekend. We aimed to go back to a Niesman Arto and there were two available. One new to the market and a private sale, the other in a dealer where it had stood for about 3 months.
The private one was actually in our own town and I made contact. She said that she had a couple coming all the way up from Poole (we are in Cheshire) to view it first thing on Saturday but if they didn't turn up we would be able to look. Saturday morning she messaged to say that they had arrived and parted with 100k of their hard earned cash.
Our main van we wanted was in a well known high end dealer 150+ miles away. Up at 90k we travelled up and looked at it. Filthy dirty, a massive dent in the table, a few bits here and there that needed doing was advertised as 18k miles but had 28k miles. Dealer was "nope not fixing that" Nope not fixing that" and "nope not fixing that" Managed to negotiate 1k off the asking price but nothing more. It needed 6 new tyres as well. We walked away to have a think about it and did so overnight. Having done so, we thought in the grand scheme of things, its not a van that comes up often and we would take a punt on it and fix the issues ourselves.
Sent them an email to say so and got a reply back saying someone else saw it after us and put a deposit down!!! god knows how, been up for sale for 3 months, was gone 2-30 when we left and they shut at 4.
Today, the buyer for ours turned up to pick our Flair up which we only owned for 5 months. Genuine reason for sale, but the company that bought it were first class. Nice guys, considerate, no messing, and even retained my number plate for me and paid the 80 quid. So now after 18 years we are (motor)homeless. We tossed and turned all night about not selling ours and holding on to it, but when the decision is made you know it's going to happen. We just didn't want to be without and having a ski trip booked in March which is now looking unlikely we hunt for a high end motorhome (if you have anything let me know)
So Buying = Nightmare
Selling = a nice experience.
