Buying a van with bits of trim missing !!

As the title suggests, I have left a small deposit on a second hand van, 3 years old, and I have discovered after looking around on the net that an LED array that lights up the kitchen area is missing a diffuser panel and also a wardrobe light fitting has only the base for the light, no bulb or light cover.
The sales guy said that that was the way they were meant to be !
The dealer does not sell Pilotes as standard so it is quite possible the sales guy was unaware until I told him of the position, should I expect to see the items fitted or should I accept that the van is second hand.

I intend to do exactly that I was wondering whether they have the right to say no as that was the situation when they bought it themselves

does the asking price reflect the fact there are some minor things missing? it is a used motorhome after all. I would make him an offer if its not too late.

He's full of it isn't he.
Why would they fit a light base but no bulb or cover. Why fit lights but no defuser cover.
Sounds like the previous owner has removed and broken them in the process/lost them.

Knock them down a bit more and then buy some replacements. Pilote parts will not be that cheap but if it's only 3 years old they will have them. You may have to wait though as it's getting near the French holiday season and nothing happens for a couple of months.

get photos of the parts and they might be able to be sourced elsewhere. very few parts are specific to just one converter

So it's second hand, they could sell it without an engine, it's up to you to say "I will buy it if........" or walk away.

Most part are caravan parts the difrance is for caravan it will cost £5.00 for a motor home it will cost 30.00 i do think that when they make up the price for motorhome parts Dian Abut is involved somewhere

Agree totally. I recently needed to replace a lens cover. From the dealer - £24. On Ebay - £9. I later saw the same thing at just under a fiver but had already bought the £9 one.

I would go back and say you had seen a similar van with those. Missing parts as part of the van and if they can't supply them, to give you a couple of hundred pounds off and you will source and fit them yourself.

If you say which motorhome you are looking at others may have that model and be able to let you have photos of theirs so you can show the dealer that the bits should be there and he's talking b*llocks.

Depends on whether these missing bits are important to you or not vs the price being paid...

...but it might be a pointer to;
how well the previous owner cared for his van, what else might be missing/broken sight unseen
and/or
the attitude of the dealer

No fuss mate, I still want the van, simply asking for other peoples input. I will happily buy the parts myself if I have to but if I can them as part of the purchase
