Hi

The manufacturers warranty on our Swift MH runs out later this year and I am thinking about buying an extended warranty. Do any Funsters have any experience of these? Best policy, pitfalls, cost?

When we bought our van used we also bought an rac warranty with it. We already claimed the cost of the warranty for the throttle body replacement. No quibble. So for us it was worth it.

Not long enough!
Have had extended warranty for 4 years. Front springs went on van £1200, and cooker unit on fridge £500.
Also extractor stopped working and step alarm.
Over the 4 years, about £23 a month, so broke even I suppose.

We had 3 years warranty on a used van for 'FREE' with our van, was very skeptical about it but actually we ended up doing quite well out of it, new shower base and new electric step. No problems.

Generally you can have the repair done where you want.

Ring a local caravan/motorhome repairer on some pretext and move the conversation onto insurance backed warranty and ask who they prefer to deal with. They will tell you the ones they have the least problems with a) getting work agreed and b) getting paid.
