Hi gang, we’re off to Southern France in a couple of weeks time, I intend to fill the MoHo with diesel at Costco Chester, currently £1.749/litre so around £157 for 90 litres, should give us around 500 miles range. I’ll need around 54 litres to top the tank when we get to Folkestone. That’s around £100. How much is diesel in France? Will it be cheaper to fill up this side of the tunnel or in France?

TIA!

It varies so much. A roads €2 something. Towns anywhere € 1.7 - 1.9. With exchange rate slightly lower, but not a lot of difference. Just fill when you find it cheaper and don’t wait until desperate as you’ll only find €1.9. 🥴

I really can’t see the difference in price making enough difference to even care

It would spoil my trip if counting the cost to this degree 🤔

I am more interested in easy entry / exit when buying fuel than the price

i would fill up where you can, reports are that prices will be going up in the EU and availability will be going down after the latest EU sanction proposals against Russia

DavidG58 I think it’s scandalous how much the price of fuel has risen recently, I don’t want to encourage the b@stards anymore than I have to! Anyway £20 in my pocket or poured down my throat is much better than giving it to Shell or Esso!

Thanks for your responses everyone. Looks like I’ll stick a £100 in in Costco and fill up at a Supermarche in France.

Cheers!

But yes roughly the same figures in France but cheaper currency. Makes a big difference having a good deal for currency , revolut etc

I’ve popped that site into my ipad favourites as it also has LPG prices on it.

Cheers!

We used this fuel price website for diesel and lpg while we were touring France a couple of weeks ago and found the prices to be up to date and very easy to use.

Would be better to bomb them & just leave the fuel supplies we want.
Luxembourg the cheapest but only if you’re going that way.
Luxembourg hasn't been "cheap" for a long while.Over the last 4 years my neighbour would always fill there when running to Holland & back & most of the time it was dearer than the diesel price here.

Last time we went Lux was much cheaper but it was long before the pandemic. I guess things change. However you look at it, fuel is incredibly expensive. 😕
