One of the problems I have never solved is how to keep butter in the motorhome. Left out, it melts and runs away. In the fridge, it’s too hard for an impromptu sandwich. I compromise with taking it in and out as would seem to be required, but it’s almost never in the right state for use, whatever I do.

What do other people do?

I use Lurpak as it seems to have less added water than the rest of the pack. However most French butter in spreadable tubs gets a bit hard in the fridge and I haven’t found a good alternative so I usually start a trip with a couple of tubs. I never leave it out of the fridge as usually on the move.

I take it in and out but also have a pot of olive spread in case i forget and it's going on soft bread. Also old fashioned bendy butter knife for wafer thin spreading

Lurpak spreadable is the best compromise we've found, with proper lurpak in the fridge to be distributed gradually in small rations

Try finding kerrygold softer butter. Dunno what processing it goes through, but it does seem to be a bit more useable from the fridge, than the standard butter slab and I can't see that they add oils and such like to it.

Never use my fridge, butter will keep for weeks and won't run away. 😎
