Been getting away since 2008
I use battery hydraulic crimping tools, specifically for the job.
We use them at work.

It’s the only way for a good connection.

I got the thing installed, and now ever so excited to have 3 devices showing in my Victron Bluetooth app - MPPT 100/20, BMV712, battery sense.
In the end I got a mechanic to make a cable for me M-8 to M10, and that gave me the confidence to drill out another connector to M10.

Now I just need to get to a power supply to ensure the battery is fully charged to reset the battery monitor and I think that’s it after 8 months of mucking-around-with-power.
I really hope I don’t need to disconnect after that, I’m so fed up of the Hymer weeing itself when the boiler offloads, tut.

Question - I moved both the negative cables which go to the Hymer built in regulator, to the shunt, and left the 2 cables which go directly to the MPPT 100/20 and the invertor, directly connected to the battery. Does that sound about right or should everything negative be moved to the shunt (I’m not sure of the logic)? Or does it matter?

If you look on the victron diagram, it shows clearly, the shunt has a battery side( only batteries connected to that side) and loads/chargers side. O this side connects everything else but the batteries. Nothing conected to batteries negative.

The idea is that everything into or out of the battery passes through the shunt. If anything bypasses the shunt, it won't get measured.

Fair enough

Not too sure Raul - I’m very puzzled by this... you’re saying zero cables to the -ve of the battery?? Diagram attached. That cable I got made up was for battery -ve to shunt battery terminal.
I left everything that was connected to battery +ve in place.

On the picture, the lower part of shunt side is connected to battery only. Top side,(system ground) is the load and charging side. Al loads and charging has to go through shunt, not skipping. The only cable you see of the battery negative is the only one going to shunt. Any other negatives has to go to (system ground) side.

Hi, a couple of follow up questions:

1. Does the display give you anymore than you get in the App?
I baulked against drilling a hole as i can’t see an easy way to get a cable with RJ11 ends to my preferred location, so the display is currently sat loose in with the battery and I’m thinking maybe it’s redundant.

2. There we lots of warnings in the manual about different settings for LiFePO4s, I only made 2 changes - charge efficiency and Peukert’s exponent. Am I missing something?)

Peukert exponent 1,05- or 1,04 if you run small loads, charging efficiency 97% for big charging amps, or 98% for low charging amps. I think your set up is low amps.
Charged voltage (xx,x) whatever your absorb voltage is set on charge controllers, charged detection time 1min, tail current 2a for your 200ah bank. And of course not the last: battery capacity (xxxah) your battery capacity, 200ah?...
Make sure you disable temp.compensation on your charge controller, and disable charging bellow 4 degC, that’s on the solar charger.

Yes, got those, especially excitedly updating the temp setting on the MPPT. You’re right, I’m low amp, but all day use. Default 200ah was good for me.
Cool looks like it’s fine then 👍 Thanks again
