Ok looking for some opinions , I'm interested in a Burstner Ixeo time IT 734 which is in excellent condition on a 17 plate with 3,500 miles priced at £49k its for sale via a brokers up in Perthshire and was originally supplied by Perthshire caravans who are Burstner agents .
I had my heart set on it until I discovered it missed its first Hab check in 2018 and not sure if the Fiat side of it has to also be done yearly .
Are Burstner flexible over missing Habitation services since it is a fairly new vehicle or will they just void any warranty issues if they arise

I believe the first FIAT service is at 2 years.

As @maison says,, Fiat for a new van is only required a service at 2 years to keep warranty.. (y)

Cant help re the Burstner except what i have just read online,,, They offer a 10 year ingress warranty but will now be void i guess as the first hab was missed :(

Bought a new Burstner a few years ago and never bother with the hab check just the damp test. The lack of a habitations check will not, in my opinion, invalidate the warranty. If the fridge stops working you just go straight to Dometic or whoever the manufacturer is. Did the same thing with a new Autosleeper and in both cases the dealers admitted that the lack of a hab check did not invalidate the warranty. The damp check is a must though.
Other opinions are available.:D

just spoke to Perthshire caravans who supplied the Burstner new in August 17 and they confirmed that the warranty would be void but said if I spoke to Burstner they possibly might reinstate it .
They then said if the warranty was reinstated they still wouldn't honour any warranty claim should it arise because I would be the second owner .
So in other words if you buy new from Perthshire and keep the habitation service up to date its worthless because any subsequent owners if you sell privately will have no guarantee to fall back on .:mad:

The joys of the leisure industry ⚠️

We have a 2015 Burstner from new. We had the first habitation and damp check and then were told by the dealers works manager that we didn’t need both, only the damp check and that our warranty would not be invalidated. Think it comes down to the particular dealer as friends of ours purchased a Hymer at the same time from a different dealer who insisted on both being done. Write to Burstner direct and ask as I found them to be extremely helpful. Think the habitation check is just a money-making exercise for dealers. Two more damp checks for us (150 miles journey) and then freedom!,

We have a 2016 Bustner from new. The habitation warranty was for 2 years this does not require a habitation service even though some dealers will make you think its necessary.

We were told by Southdowns If you are using the van and everything works ok, do you really need us to confirm this for you? While waiting for my van I heard them say the same to another customer. They did suggested we may like to have a habitation service at 2 years, then any problems would be fixed as this will be the end of the warranty period. Very honest of them, I thought!

There is also a water ingress warranty this is for 5 years (for vehicles produced from 2019 this will be a 10 year warranty)

The water ingress warranty does require a damp test and must be carried out by a “Burstner Dealer” I think we paid £106 Inc vat for this and the Dealer must register this test each year with Burstner. This must be no more than one month before or after the registration date each year.

The Fiat chassis only requires a Service every 2 years although the Fiat warranty is only for 2 years.

This is what we were told. For our own peace of mind we had a habitation check carried out by a certified engineer at our home who was able to certify this for us. Off to Southdowns in April for damp check as required despite a damp check being carried out by the engineer as this does have to be done by dealer as stated previously.

Whole damp check is a load of balls, I took my Hymer to the dealer with a big leak, ie pouring on the bed. they fixed it and said it was OK but as I didnt have them do a damp check and stupid underspray My warranty would be totally invalid. When I fixed another big problem with the door in the garage They said the same as it wasn't done by their monkey. If I found the overbed leak I though they would have checked the rest of it, Especially as I found out the ere was aproblem before I bought it with a total lack of any sealant around all the left side openings it was a prospective customer the noticed it leaking in the sales yard and tole them. It got pulled straight in and fixed then.
If I could not find a leak and fix it then I am damned sure they would not do better, So sod them the warranty is not worth that much as it decreased every year as a percentage until it was not worth anything at all.

Its a British thing this Habitation Check sorted out by the Manufacturers to keep the Dealers happy with a steady income. The guys / gals over the water would never stand for it. Damp check once a year keeps the warranty going.

So, let me get this straight. Burstner may reinstate the warranty so therefore, if they did, you have a warranty, which is transferrable to a new owner anyway, right? However, Perthshire Caravans say they wouldn't honour the reinstated warranty because you are the new owner o_O. But I guess they can do what they like, it is their business. There are plenty of other approved workshops around that will take on warranty work so go there. I had all of my new van snagging completed by PC but would not give them any more money because of their stinking attitude. I am free to use any approved workshop for warranty work and will use those nearer to home if the need arises. https://www.approvedworkshops.co.uk/find-approved-workshop
Good luck (y)

I have to say Perthshire caravans refusal to honour any warranty claims on a vehicle they supplied because it has changed hands is disgusting and certainly doesn't inspire me to have any dealing's with them in the future .

;)

I like your thinking BUT ! Yes it’s a big BUT ;)(y)
There aren’t actually many dealers who are remotely interested in taking on warranty work on vehicles they haven’t supplied and the non dealership workshops will probably not have access to the manufacturers parts easily (n)
The whole industry is crap
We are still waiting for parts for our HYMER pig

Yip I agree, that is why I use "non-dealing" approved workshops eg. Turriff Caravans, AWJ Caravan Services, Greenbank Caravans (I should have stated that, sorry)

As others have said habition check on a German van not normally necessary for the warranty. On our 3rd Hymer never had a habit check never had a problem getting warranty items sorted.
But if it has not had the annual damp check that's a different matter and I would walk away.

I'm following your advice Lenny and decided to give it a miss , there are plenty on the Market so the search go's on

I take its not had the damp check then. A wise decision.
Sadly No , the owner died aged only 42 and his wife kept it for quite a while after his death hence the missing damp check and then decided to sell it via a brokerage .
As much as its a lovely looking motorhome it's not for me .

You could get the motorhome covered under warranty insurance as the manufacturers warranty is not honoured or get the seller to supply it ?

You won't get an aftermarket water ingress warranty which is the only warranty you really need.
