Burstner None Starter (1 Viewer)

Hi Guys
I have a Burstner 747 57 plate 14000 miles
A couple of weeks ago it wouldn't start, I was told fuel pump between seats
£700 later its running fine, this morning same problem turning over but not firing, engine warning light is on
Any ideas you Top People

Seems an expensive fuel pump,,,,,,,,,,,,,, £700 ?

Injection pump is in the engine compartment and fuel supply lift pump normally on the engine,

Hi Peter
First Mechanic charged 5 hrs for finding fault but couldn't fix it
Second Mechanic fitted new pump between seats in Fuel tank
Total cost was £700, now its gone again,

So it is not the Burstner that wont start but the Fiat/Citreon/Peugeot/Ford/Mercedes or whatever chassis cab its built on.

@Apex if you are sure it is a diesel fuel problem then I would call TT Automotive at Loughborough.
They are proper experts with diesel injection and also very fair.
My last van with the 2.8jtd broke down in Scotland and once at TT they believed that the tank pump was failing under load (it ran till you asked for more than 1/4 throttle then cut out) so they fitted a new one and called to say all was looking good till road test when it broke down on them. They stripped the HP pump on the engine (about £1800.00 for a new one ) and found one stuck piston. They cleaned and checked it and refitted it and tested all good. THEN they put the original pump back in the tank and credited the cost.
They had it 5 days and it never let me down again. Total cost £360.00 including vat
I have no connection with them other than as a customer but as they are local to you it could be well worth talking with them.

Can he charge for 5 hours work .. that job being to find what wrong ... when he DIDN'T find what wrong?

If that's the case, please all bring your cars and mhs to ME ... I'll spend a long time fiddling with them and you can pay me when I smile at you at the end and say 'I don't know.'.....
