Hi all, from all ok the centre circular front habitation light, the four under cupboard lights, the external awning light and the reversing camera on my Burstner Elegance have all stopped working. I assume its a fuse but I have been through all that I can find without success. Any help/pointers/assistance appreciated?

not a van i know but probably on or near the electro block or similar

Don't know that particular van but if you have left it for a while, do you have a switch at the back of the wardrobe nr the bottom? Has it switched itself off?

Or, re your instrument panel , do you have a blue button which switches off 12v? Push it on again.

Or, do you have load of fuses under front passenger seat and an off/on button? Turn button off then on again.

My van is a different model so may not apply to you. . . But if I don't use it for a while ..esp Winter .. these three things need doing.

THe lights sound like the ones that work with the control panel turned off, you may find a small bank of fuses beside or behind the Elektroblock it normally has fuses for those lights, fridge electronics, heater & sat dish.

Hi Lenny, I have been through the whole Elektroblock but will take the control panel off tomorrow as an option.

Hi Mohan, checked the first two plus fuses in the dash and engine bay. Still no joy. Everything worked one day and failed the next with no known interaction from me. I'm pretty handy but this one's got me!

Hi Lenny, these lights normally work with control panel on or off but have tried both options...

That's what I thought also fridge electronics and heater work with the panel off so there should be a seperate bank of fuses seperate to the EBL. On Hymer's it's next to the EBL. It could be near the batteries.

Sorry of no help ... the only thing I can say is that it has happened to me twice now.

(The fridge also stopped working on gas and the heater as somehow connected to electric power).

The first time, I had just pulled in to get Autogas filled and a nice guy came out and did the things in my first response to you but after first pulling the large main fuse out to check it hadn't blown, and putting it back in.)

After doing those things mentioned, it all started working ... he didn't know why but said that maybe I had something running 'in the background' and the 12v had shut down as a safety measure because the voltage was low. I can't think of anything that could possibly be running in background ... except my radio may be unknowingly on standby, as it doesn't work anyway. He said my journey to his garage had charged the battery enough to restart the 12v after fiddling with switches.

Second time it happened. It was night time and I was parked up. I went to bed and at around 9am following day switched off switched on and pushed the 12vautoblock... and it all came back on ..I presumed there had been enough daylight for the solar panel to raise voltage. ...but I havn't a clue.

Sorry for long post but I'm hoping you may spot something in it that helps you identify your problem. :( (PS You will accept I know beggar all about the technicalities of batteries and electrics) .. seems strange as both are Burstner.

@mitzimad can you suggest anything for poster please?

John .. this is probably stupid but when you push my control panel on/off, mine also if you push extra hard (i.e. it has two levels of push) is what switches the 12v on/off. I am not saying you are as daft as me but I didn't realise at first.

Hi Movan, two great options, I am going to pull the 'big one' to see if I can get a re-set of sorts and I confess I was not aware of the double/hard push option so will experiment. Have pulled every fuse and jiggled every wire without success I am questioning a failed component and reluctantly might have to book into South coast Burstner to see if they have any ideas? I will revert however.

Does the MH have an Electroblock (EBL) and if so what is the model number?

Reversing camera packed up on my elegance, found an in-line fuse in the dash. I took of the panel around the gear knob (mine's an auto) and by gently tugging on the loom from the camera found the fuse. No idea about the other problems - sorry.

Oh no. !!!! Swopping my Autotrail for a Burstner next week. :( . Don't start problem threads...

;)

@Timotei finally moving on the 700.

Hi, yes the Electroblock is a Schaudt EBL 220 - 2. Pic attached if it works.

Hey Timotei, the Burstner is awesome, you won't look back or get better. We love it, did the NC500 last year in her, loads of other trips, Europe and Italy this summer. Enjoy it!

Tonka, The Burstner is fab, you'll have no regrets. Call me if you need to know anything, if I can help I will.

Had the dash out and the fuses I could see were ok. I'm still thinking component of some sort but it looks like a visit to Portsmouth!

As I said before I'm sure there will be a separate bank of fuses as the bits that aren't working are ones that are not fed from the EBL.

It will be something like this one on our Hymer.

@tonka

'finally moving on the 700.' ???

See you forgot me unless I have the wrong Timotei... Ex Facts, had a leaky apache 700 ???
I have same van and think we had a few chats long time ago ref the leaks..

Or maybe it was all a dream like Dallas..

The awning light fuse is 5A, labelled 'VZ-Leuchte'. You say you checked the fuses so I presume it's OK. Do you get power (12V) to the fuseholder? With a meter, when you remove the fuse you should get 12V on one side (and an indeterminate voltage, maybe zero, on the other side). Very likely not.

The common motorhome-specific functions are all pre-labelled, but the circuits specific to your variant are on general circuits labelled 'Kreis' (= Circuit, or 'cross' in German)

There are two heavy-duty latching relays that control the power to most circuits.

Relay 1 controls Kreis 1, 2 and 3 as well as the TV, pump etc.

Relay 2 controls Kreis 4 and 5, and the step, awning light, foldaway bed, TV aerial and the 12V power to the fridge when the engine is not running.

I suggest you check for 12V power at the Kreis 4 fuseholder, to see if Relay 2 is turning on.

The thick wire with the 50A fuse is the main supply from leisure battery to EBL. Obviously there will be quite high amps along that wire. To allow an accurate reading of battery voltage, avoiding voltage drops due to large currents, an entirely separate wire goes back to the EBL from the battery. It is protected by a 2A fuse. If that fuse blows or there's a bad connection, the EBL thinks the voltage is low, so it switches off.

There's a similar setup on the starter battery, with an extra 20A fuse. This charges the battery on EHU, and powers the fridge when driving.

Glad your not dreaming about me.
Only had a Rapido, now got a Burstner (with very few faults, you'll be pleased to hear)

What Burstner do you have ? I have a Harmony 590. I am trying to find where the fuse board is situated. I have a water pump problem and needed to check that fuse was ok but couldn’t find the board. Any help would be appreciated. Helen

Have you looked under the driver & passenger seats Elektroblocks are often fitted there.
