Just ordered a new Burstner Lyseo due in May and wondered if any other Burstner owners have had a factory fitted tow bar fitted? I've been quoted £1250 by the dealer for a factory fit. Thanks

That sounds pretty reasonable for a factory fit.
We were going to have an oven fitted in ours till we saw the price. Similar to your towbar!

There's someone in Lancashire at Freckleton that specialises in motorhome towbars, they've had good reviews on here in the past.

Thanks for the tip about Freckleton - not too far away. Will check them out

Mike Parkinson at Freckleton, done a couple for me. Sorry can't find his number.

When I visited Mick Parkinson a couple of years ago he was fitting a tow bar to a new Burstner for Emm-bee
motorhomes. Visit his website at motorhometowbarslancashire.co.uk for more details.

I know this is an old thread but I also have a Lyseo and had a type approved towbar fitted by LNB towbars in Bristol in August.
It too, was around £1300 but if you are going to tow a car (which is my intention) you want something that is up to the job and type approved in case you are involved in any legality at a later date.

It was not a short journey for me to Bristol to have it fitted (from Glasgow) but I simply planned a tour to take in the Cotswolds, stonehenge, cheddar gorge etc. on the way down.

Fitting took a day, and we used their courtesy car to take in the Clifton suspension bridge and the SS Great Britain while they were working on the van.

Hope that helps someone else in a similar situation.

Thanks for the feedback Graydo. Still not fitted one so far.

No worries.

Thing is with factory fitted the cost can include other upgrades/modifications to make the vehicle perform better when towing. On my friends merc a factory specified tow bar price includes upgrades to the turbo charger , larger intercooler & the ecu is rewritten so that when the plug goes in the trailer socket it changes the ecu programme .
*Oh & uprated gearbox oil cooler in radiator + additional standalone oil cooler.

Hmm,
Only problem with that is you would temporarily remap the ECU and force the turbo to cut in earlier and boost performance even when you only had a bike rack on the back (as opposed to the load of a car) by simply plugging in a trailer plug.

Sounds a fair price to me, what I do know is some things that are factory fit are always done better than an after market fit. Not sure this would be the case but some things are so I would ask to take a look at a factory fit option in the flesh and have a look at the quality of fitment and materials etc
